Colorado Avalanche vs. Dallas Stars Game 7: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

A deciding Game 7 between the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars is coming up on Saturday night. These Central Division teams have battled all season long in the regular season and in six playoff games thus far, and after this game only one will continue on their quest to win the Stanley Cup. This is going to be a fun one no question.

Texas will be rocking as their Dallas Stars look to advance to the second round, but their hands will be full trying to take down one of the best teams in the league in the Colorado Avalanche.

Dallas won two straight games (Game 2 and Game 3) in this series so far, but it has otherwise been a back-and-forth affair with both teams showing at times they are deserving of moving on.

How will Game Seven play out? Here are our expert Avalanche vs. Stars predictions and the betting odds to get you set for the action.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Dallas Stars betting picks and predictions

Over 5.5 (-110)

When the series began, goal totals remained at a relatively consistent level. The first four games brought us 20 goals in total, although there were also two overtime periods, bringing the average below 5.0 goals per game. Game Five and Game Six meanwhile brought us 19 goals combined (9.5 per game), and that is how Game Seven could easily play out.

Both teams absolutely thrive offensively, which has not only been clear this season, but seasons prior. They each finished within the top six in NHL scoring this season, which is not surprising to most.

Each goaltender has also shown they are not invincible, especially against dominant offensive attacks from their opponents. Game 7’s usually bring hardcore physicality and grit, but the offensive games on each side are thriving as of late, and should continue that confidence in what should be another back and forth affair.

Nathan MacKinnon anytime goalscorer (+135)

Nathan MacKinnon has been nothing short of incredible during this series. He is tied for second in playoff points (11), but is leading the way in goals (6). As we all expected, he has been a dominant offensive threat in the six games in this series.

This is not likely to change on Saturday, particularly in a win-or-go-home situation. He has been carrying his team and leading by example up to this point, which is expected from one of the most talented players and best leaders in the NHL.

The importance of Game 7 cannot be understated. MacKinnon is not satisfied with one Stanley Cup to his name, so he is not ready to end this journey quite yet. He will be a threat every shift, and in a crucial battle, he can be expected him to bury at least one chance that comes his way.

Mackenzie Blackwood over 23.5 saves (-110)

Dallas has averaged just under 28 shots per game in this series, which proves a consistent attack which has no hesitation of shooting the puck. This is obviously their biggest matchup of the season, and will need to continue this.

On home ice in a winner-takes-all matchup, the Dallas Stars should come out flying in an attempt to blow the roof off the building and gather all the momentum. To kick off the game, there should be a fury of offensive effort from the Stars where they throw everything on net.

Towards the end of this game, there is also a chance of Colorado owning the lead, and Dallas requiring nothing but pure offensive effort to keep up and stave off a loss, hence another excess of shots.

Blackwood has been decent in the series so far with a 2.65 goals against average and a .899 save percentage, but he will likely need to have his biggest performance yet in Game 7 for the Avs to have a chance to progress.
