The highlight of the four-game Wednesday night NHL slate will be the Boston Bruins taking on the Colorado Avalanche in Denver.
Neither team looks to have found their stride yet but this represents a good opportunity for both teams to pick up an important two points.
The start of the 2024/25 NHL season has not been kind to the Avalanche, who have dropped each of their three games so far, and it doesn’t get any easier with a clash against Boston.
Colorado has been outscored a combined 20-10 during this disappointing three-game stretch, with their opponents during this period being the Vegas Golden Knights, Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders.
A weak defense has been a major issue for the Avs, who are bottom of the Western Conference Central Division, and it is hard to back them with any confidence right now.
The Bruins have started off the season with two wins and two defeats, both of those losses coming against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, and Boston has a neutral goal differential compared to Colorado’s -10.
Boston looks to be in better form heading into this contest and the fact they are available at plus money makes them a great selection on the Moneyline.
Elias Lindholm has made a solid start to his maiden season with Boston and he can continue his form by going Over 0.5 points in this game.
This is a solid veteran player that has experience as a first line center in the NHL. He earned himself a familiar spot as the team’s top center in between David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha, while Lindholm also centers the top power play with Zacha, Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, and Charlie McAvoy.
Any player playing top line and top power play minutes with names like that will have a chance to produce in any given game. Lindholm is no exception.
Through four games, he has two goals and five points along with a +3 plus/minus rating in 18:49 of ice time per game. This is a productive player that plays with other productive individuals.
To no surprise, David Pastrnak has three goals in the Bruins’ first four games of the season. He has tallied 148 goals across the last three years for an average of 49.3 goals per season during that span.
In addition to the pure talent, pedigree, and hot start of Pastrnak, he is also playing against an Avalanche team that is allowing an average of 6.67 goals per game to start the season.
A bona fide NHL goalscorer like Pastrnak facing a team with weak goal-prevention gives this +125 prop a ton of appeal.
Pastrnak plays top line and top power play minutes with other star players. Facing a struggling team, he has a great chance to put another one past the goalie here.
