What | Jacksonville Jaguars @ Buffalo Bills |
Where | Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London |
When | 9:30 AM ET, Sunday, October 8 |
How to watch | NFL Network |
Odds | Bills -5.5, Jaguars +210 ML |
The Jacksonville Jaguars didn't need to get out of first gear to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in the first of two straight weeks in London, but Trevor Lawrence and co. face an altogether tougher test when Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills head to the UK on Sunday morning.
The Bills have flattered to deceive in the postseason in the Allen era, but they have served notice that an NFL Championship push might not be beyond them this season with wins over the Raiders, Commanders and Miami Dolphins in their last three games.
Victory over Miami, in which the Bills scored six touchdowns to win 48-20, was particularly impressive given how devastating Tua Tagovaiola and the Fins had looked in the opening weeks.
Star receiver Stefon Diggs did the bulk of the damage, catching six of seven targets for 120 yards and three TDs, and Allen will be looking for him again against a Jags defense which looked shaky in the 37-17 Week 3 loss to the Houston Texans.
The Jaguars are 2-2 this season and the clear underdogs for this London contest, although Lawrence is likely to relish that role and his team stand to benefit from spending a week in the UK.
Buffalo, meanwhile, will be forced to make do without star corner Tre'Davious White, who has suffered a torn Achilles, which could point towards a big week for Jags' receiver Calvin Ridley.
What | Philadelphia Eagles @ Los Angeles Rams |
Where | SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California |
When | 4:05 PM ET, Sunday, October 8 |
How to watch | Fox |
Odds | Eagles -4, Rams +180 ML |
Two teams who have competed in the NFL Championship game in the last two seasons meet in California as the Los Angeles Rams host the 4-0 Philadelphia Eagles in a matchup which will tell us a lot about where LA stands this season.
We already know how good the Eagles are. Last season's Championship losers had to work hard to see off the Commanders in overtime in Week 4, but they remain unbeaten and have demonstrated an ability to win ugly this season.
Jalen Hurts' team already look destined for the playoffs again but it would be naive to rule out the Rams, especially after LA earned a second win of the season in last Sunday's 29-23 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Matthew Stafford, questionable for this game with a hip contusion but expected to play, has struck up an instant partnership with rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua, who totalled 163 receiving yards and a walk-off TD against Indy.
Running back Kyren Williams is in hot form on the ground and 2022 Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp could also return following a hamstring injury.
The Eagles' high-powered offense should keep the scoreboard ticking over, but the defense has conceded 22.5 points on average this season as opposed to the Rams' average of 21.25 points conceded.
This matchup has historically been a high-scoring one - the points total has gone over in each of their last four meetings - so these two high-powered offenses could surpass the 50.5 over/under line.
What | Dallas Cowboys @ San Francisco 49ers |
Where | Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, California |
When | 8:20 PM ET, Sunday October 8 |
How to watch | NBC, Peacock |
Odds | 49ers -3.5, Cowboys +160 ML |
The standout game of Week 5 comes from the Levi's Stadium where the unbeaten San Francisco 49ers put that record to the test against the 3-1 Dallas Cowboys in an NFC blockbuster.
Both teams take high rank in the NFL Championship futures market - the Niners are +500 favorites, while only four teams are rated more likely to win than the Cowboys, who are offered at +900.
Brock Purdy and the Niners have started the year unbeaten with help from a potent offense featuring some serious weapons, including superstar back Christian McCaffrey and receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, combined with a rampant defense led by Nick Bosa and Fred Warner.
San Francisco has scored 125 points, the most in the NFC, while beating the Steelers, Rahm, Giants and Arizona.
That's not a stellar list of victims, though, and the same can be argued of Dallas, with wins coming over the two New York franchises and the New England Patriots, while they also suffered a shock loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
This time, we'll find out what these two teams are made of.
However, while both sets of offenses are capable of putting up big points, these teams are so solid on the other side of the ball, so there's an equal chance this could be an offensive shootout or a defensive struggle.
