Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Week 11 slate begins with the Washington Commanders making the short trip north to take on the Philadelphia Eagles for Thursday Night Football.

Jayden Daniels has exceeded all expectations thus far as he’s led the Commanders to a 7-3 record entering Week 11.

As for the Eagles, they’ve won five straight games and now hold a 7-2 record after Week 10. The duo of Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley has been a huge reason for the success and has made Philly one of the best offenses in football.

This primetime matchup will feature a number of elite offensive playmakers, so which team has the edge?

Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles betting picks and predictions

Philadelphia Eagles -3.5 (+100)

The Eagles are soaring right now. Philadelphia started the season 2-2 and their 17-point loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers started some rumors that Nick Sirianni might not be the right guy for the team. However, those beliefs have been put to rest as the Eagles have won five straight games and have scored at least 20 points in all five of those wins.

Philly’s latest win came over Cooper Rush and the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 34-6 as the Eagles offense looked perfect. Hurts threw for over 200 yards in the air, Barkley averaged nearly five yards a carry, and A.J. Brown shredded the Cowboys secondary for 105 yards.

When the Eagles are healthy, they are capable of beating the best of the best. Philly also might now be considered championship contenders with their blowout win over the Cowboys since the Eagles are now in sole possession of second place in the NFC.

On the other side, Jayden Daniels has brought hope to the Commanders.

Washington appeared to be in a downward spiral, but the former Heisman winner has changed the course of the franchise. He’s turned the Commanders into a hotspot for free agents this coming offseason and they are just a few pieces away from becoming an elite football team.

As for now, the Commanders still have their faults. It’s hard to overlook the fact that the Commanders have struggled against good football teams this season.

Their seven wins have come against the Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and New York Giants twice. Only one of those teams has a record above .500 after Week 10.

As for their losses? The Buccaneers, Baltimore Ravens, and Pittsburgh Steelers. The new-and-improved Eagles defense is going to pose a big challenge for Daniels, and I don’t think the Commanders are ready for it.

Under 49.0 total points (-110)

Last season, the Eagles secondary became the laughing stock of the league. The Philly secondary allowed over 255 passing yards per game and their weakness became very clear to everyone else. But to their credit, they’ve fixed that problem.

The addition of Cooper DeJean and others to the secondary has led the Eagles to soar up the rankings as they have allowed the third fewest passing yards per game this season.

In Week 10, Philly held Cooper Rush to just 45 passing yards. Although that’s just one game, the passing yards allowed by the Eagles in the previous few weeks were 169, 234, 99, and 168. That’s going to make it hard for Daniels to find Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown open downfield.

Instead, the Commanders might rely on the running game which creates a running clock.

Let’s address the elephant in the room first. The Eagles have scored at least 28 points in four consecutive games. With that said, that was against the Giants, Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Cowboys. The Commanders have a much stronger secondary than all four of those teams considering they are allowing the fifth fewest passing yards per game.

However, they do have a weakness. Washington’s defensive line has really struggled this season and they rank in the bottom 10 of rushing yards allowed per game. That issue is going to be exploited by Barkley and Hurts.

Since both teams have strong secondaries and an elite rushing attack, the ball is expected to stay on the ground for a lot of the game. That means a running clock with long possessions, and that is going to play to the Under.
