San Francisco 49ers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The San Francisco 49ers travel cross-country to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as part of the Week 10 NFL slate.

The Niners improved to 4-4 with their Week 9 win over the Dallas Cowboys, while the Bucs lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime and fell to 4-5 on the season.

This is a crucial week for both teams to turn it around and the biggest question surrounding this game is if superstar running back Christian McCaffrey is going to make his season debut.

Let’s get into the analysis, preview and best bets for Sunday afternoon’s game.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers betting picks and predictions

Buccaneers +6.5 (-110)

The Buccaneers went into Kansas City without Chris Godwin or Mike Evans and had Bucky Irving dealing with a toe injury and still nearly beat the Chiefs.

Tampa Bay was unlucky to have lost the coin toss in overtime which sealed their fate against Patrick Mahomes, but Baker Mayfield has still proven to be an elite quarterback.

He’s finding ways to succeed in an offense that is missing its two best targets. Instead, tight end Cade Otton has become the star of the offense. He has totaled 25 catches for 258 yards and three touchdowns in the last three weeks.

He was a huge part of the offense on Monday night and so was the tandem of Irving and Rachaad White in the backfield.

Although the Bucs have been plagued by injury, Mayfield has kept the offense moving. Plus, the Tampa Bay defense stepped up and held Mahomes and the Chiefs to just 24 points in regulation.

The Niners came into the season as a championship contender, but they just fought their way back to .500 in Week 9.

The biggest cause for their disappointing season? Injuries. Christian McCaffrey has yet to appear in a game, Brandon Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL a few weeks ago, Deebo Samuel has missed multiple games due to injuries, George Kittle was dealing with a hamstring injury, and Jordan Mason has left two games early due to injury.

However, good news is on the horizon regarding McCaffrey. CMC has been out the entire season with Achilles tendonitis and even went to Germany to see a specialist about his recovery.

But McCaffrey was back at practice earlier this week and could suit up for Sunday’s game as long as the practices go well. Still, even if CMC plays, he will be extremely limited.

The Niners defense has been beat up in the last few weeks and Mayfield should continue that trend. The Bucs might not win the game, but 6.5 points is a lot of room to cover.

Over 50.5 total points (-110)

It’s one of the highest game totals of Week 10 and it still might not be high enough. These teams have great offenses with several elite playmakers, while also not having the strongest defenses.

Take the 49ers for example. Brock Purdy has been a great quarterback through all of the injuries to the offense and has led the Niners to 30, 18, 36, 23, and 30 points in the last few weeks.

However, at the same time, the defense has surrendered 24, 28, 24, and 24 points in the last four weeks.

A good offense and a struggling defense has led to five of San Francisco’s eight games going Over the total and if McCaffrey suits up for his season debut, it will be yet another weapon the Bucs defense is going to have to worry about.

Only one team has a higher percentage of the Over hitting in their games this season than the Buccaneers. The Over is 7-2 in Tampa Bay’s nine games and the only team with a higher percentage is the Baltimore Ravens since eight of their nine games have gone over.

Here are the total scores from the Bucs’ last five games: 54, 57, 72, 78, and 66. There’s a clear trend happening in Tampa Bay and don't expect that to change against the 49ers in Week 10.

Between two high-powered offenses, take the Over.
