San Francisco 49ers vs. Green Bay Packers: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Week 12 of the 2024 NFL campaign is headlined in part by a huge NFC showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

It is an especially crucial contest for San Francisco, which is 5-5 and needs every win it can get in an effort to remain in the playoff picture, while Green Bay is 7-3 and has won five of its last six contests.

With the game kicking off at 4:25 PM ET on FOX, it’s time to break down the 49ers vs. Packers matchup and discuss the best bets to make.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Green Bay Packers betting picks and predictions

Green Bay Packers -2.5 (-110)

After losing the Super Bowl in overtime last season, San Francisco was among the favorites to lift the Lombardi Trophy when this 2024 campaign began. Fast forward 11 weeks and that is certainly no longer the case.

It is true that the 49ers boast plenty of talent and can’t be entirely written off, but a lot of things would have to go right for them to turn it around.

Christian McCaffrey’s return from an eight-game absence is obviously a positive development, but this remains a team with all kinds of injury issues.

Brock Purdy is day-to-day with a shoulder issue, a hamstring injury forced George Kittle to miss last week’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks and Nick Bosa is also questionable for Sunday due to a hip problem.

The story is a much different one in Green Bay. The Packers don’t have any injury issues aside from cornerback Jaire Alexander (questionable with a knee injury) and they are well on their way to another playoff berth.

Their only three losses have come against opponents who also figure to be a part of the postseason festivities in the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. Expect the Packers to use their health to their advantage and win by at least a field goal.

Under 47.5 Total Points (-110)

The Under seems like the way to play Sunday’s game total, mainly because of what San Francisco’s offense may or may not bring to the table. The 49ers have scored more than 24 points only four times this season.

Sure, McCaffrey being out was a factor. Now, though, Purdy will be less than 100 percent at best (the injury is to his throwing shoulder) and not even on the field at worst. Even with McCaffrey, the Niners were not exactly an offensive juggernaut the past two weeks.

On the bright side for the visitors, their defense should match up well with the Packers. Green Bay ranks ninth in the NFL in passing offense, but the 49ers rank eighth in passing defense and cornerback Charvarius Ward (personal) will be back after missing the previous two games.

We also can’t overlook the fact that Jordan Love has been picked off at least once in every contest this year and has thrown 11 interceptions in total. Being consistently inconsistent does not instill any confidence in an Over bet.

Josh Jacobs anytime touchdown scorer (-125)

San Francisco’s run defense is good but far from dominant. The Niners have allowed 13 touchdowns on the ground - tied for the eighth most in the NFL.

Packers RB Josh Jacobs should be able to capitalize on this opportunity, as all five of his touchdowns (four rushing, one receiving) have come in the last six games.

He torched the Jacksonville Jaguars for 127 yards and two TDs in Week 8 and is coming off a 76-yard, one-score performance against the Chicago Bears.

Look for Jacobs to stay hot on Sunday by adding another touchdown to his season-long tally.
