Week 15's edition of Thursday Night Football will be a NFC West rivalry game between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers.
The Rams (7-6) are coming off of a huge win over the Bills on Sunday afternoon and are just one game back of the Seattle Seahawks in the division.
As for the 49ers (6-7), they snapped a three-game losing streak in Week 14 with a victory over the Bears in San Francisco.
Let's jump into our preview and picks for this primetime matchup.
The Rams won one of the wildest games of the entire season in Week 14. They hosted the Bills, who were on a seven-game win streak, and L.A. came out on top by a score of 44-42.
Matthew Stafford threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns as the duo of Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp shredded the Buffalo secondary. Nacua finished with 12 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown while Kupp added five catches for 92 yards and a score. Kyren Williams also punched it into the end zone twice which had the offense firing on all fronts.
It was an impressive performance against an elite Bills' defense that held the 49ers and Chiefs to a combined 31 points in the two weeks before. But as you can tell by the score, the Rams' defense did not have a good day.
Josh Allen threw for three touchdowns and also rushed for three touchdowns as the MVP frontrunner continued to etch his name in the league's history books.
The L.A. defense got bailed out by the elite offense which has been a pretty common theme this year. With that said, if Stafford and the Rams offense scores 30+ points each game, they won't be easy to beat.
San Francisco snapped their losing streak with a much-needed win over the Bears in Week 14. The Niners had lost three straight games to the Seahawks, Packers, and Bills coming into their matchup with Chicago. But once the game started, it was all 49ers.
Brock Purdy found every gap in the Bears' secondary and finished with 325 yards and two touchdowns. George Kittle and Jauan Jennings were the main benefactors of Purdy's big day through the air as Kittle finished with six catches for 151 yards and Jennings had seven catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Plus, Isaac Guerendo made quite the impression in his first game as the lead running back as he ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
However, the injury bug came back to bite the Niners. Guerendo suffered a foot injury and is questionable for Week 15.
Nevertheless, Purdy has another chance to have success through the air against the Rams' secondary, but the Rams offense is too dangerous to fade right now. I'll take the points with the underdog.
In Week 14, the over nearly hit in the first half in the Rams' game. The Rams and Bills traded offensive blows while the defenses just couldn't make a stop. And although the Niners have a respectable defense, the Rams might just have one of the best offenses in football.
Between Stafford, Nacua, Kupp, and Williams, the Rams have some of the best offensive weapons in the league. Plus, these teams faced each other back in September and the Rams were able to score 24 points against the 49ers defense. However, that's not even the impressive part.
Both Nacua and Kupp were missing from that game. Stafford was able to throw for 221 yards and a touchdown without his top two targets.
Tutu Atwell was the Rams' leading receiver that night. If the Rams scored 24 against the Niners without the best duo of receivers in football, just imagine what they could do with both Nacua and Kupp on the field and 24 points looks the Rams' floor on Thursday night.
Purdy finally looked back to normal on Sunday. He had been dealing with a shoulder injury and missed the game against the Packers and then looked extremely uncomfortable in the snow against the Bills last week.
But Purdy was nearly perfect against the Bears as he completed 20 of his 25 passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns. Kittle and Jennings continue to be his top two targets and those two guys were a big reason for San Francisco scoring 38 points.
Plus, backup running back Patrick Taylor Jr. looked impressive in his limited opportunities and he might just be the starting back on Thursday night.
Between two dangerous and dynamic offenses, the over is worth backing with confidence.
