Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Las Vegas Raiders will be looking to give their supporters something to cheer about when they travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs in a special Black Friday game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Las Vegas’ current seven-game losing streak is the longest in the NFL.

But the 2-9 Raiders are desperate to find some positives after a 29-19 defeat to the Denver Broncos last Sunday and will look for a repeat of their upset win over the Chiefs on Christmas Day last year.

The 10-1 Chiefs returned to winning ways last Sunday when they edged past the Carolina Panthers 30-27 on a last-second field goal by Spencer Schrader.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns against Carolina, expressed a desire for more comfortable victories after the game, potentially signaling a more aggressive offensive approach against the Raiders.

With Gardner Minshew out for the season due to a broken collarbone, the Raiders will turn to Aidan O'Connell at quarterback. The second-year triggerman faces a daunting task against a Chiefs defense that ranks among the league's best.

The Raiders' offense has struggled mightily this season with their running game particularly ineffective, averaging a league-worst 74.64 rush yards per game.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs betting picks and predictions

Chiefs -12.0 (-110)

Could lightning strike twice in the space of 11 months?

The Raiders were 11.5 point underdogs going into that Christmas Day clash, but the two teams were much closer in the AFC West standings with Kansas City 9-5 and Las Vegas 6-8.

The Chiefs had lost four of their last seven games while the Raiders had gone 3-3 under interim head coach Antonio Pierce after the firing of Josh McDaniels.

Pierce has refuted suggestions that the Raiders are better off tanking for a top-three draft pick.

But with O’Connell battling a thumb injury, the coach could have to turn to third-string QB Desmond Ridder - recently signed off the Arizona Cardinals practice squad - for Friday’s game.

Kansas City's defense, led by Chris Jones and Nick Bolton, should be able to contain the Raiders' struggling offense.

And they look set to be boosted by the imminent return of defensive end Charles Omenihu, who tore his ACL tear during last year's AFC Championship Game.

Some uncharacteristic mistakes cost the Chiefs the last time the Raiders ran out at Arrowhead Stadium.

Raiders defensive tackle Bilal Nichols returned an Isiah Pacheco fumble eight yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and, on the Chiefs' very next play, Jack Jones picked off Mahomes and ran it back 33 yards for another defensive score.

The nightmare quarter ended with Harrison Butker missing a 36-yard field goal wide left and Kansas City could not recover from a 17-1 half-time hole of their own making.

But the Chiefs have won 12 straight games against opponents on a losing streak, a trend that bodes well for them in this matchup.

Andy Reid’s men have struggled to cover large spreads this season, such as in last week’s win over the Panthers and the Week 8 visit to Vegas when the Raiders were 8.5 point underdogs.

But the Raiders’ offensive woes and an unstable quarterback situation make this an opportune time for Kansas City to secure a convincing victory.

Over 42.5 (-110)

Despite the Raiders' offensive struggles, the Chiefs' potent attack and Mahomes' stated desire for more dominant performances could lead to a high-scoring affair, at least on one side.

The Raiders have allowed 30+ points in three of their six road games this season, while the Chiefs are averaging 25 points per game at home.

With the potential return of running back Pacheco and the continued impact of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, the Chiefs' offense could explode against a Raiders defense ranking 29th in DVOA.

Travis Kelce Over 52.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

Travis Kelce, who caught 10 passes for 90 yards in the teams' first meeting, could be poised for another big game.

After a slow start to the season, he has finished with over 60 yards receiving in six of Kansas City’s last eight games and remains Mahomes' most trusted target in crucial divisional matchups.

The emergence of fellow tight end Noah Gray this season should make defensive coordinators rethink how they cover Kelce in the red zone and the addition of Hopkins, who is among the best blocking wide receivers, should help him rack up more yards after the catch.
