With the 2024 NFL Draft nearing, let's take a look at the betting favorites to be selected with the No. 2 overall pick.
LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is the favorite to be selected at No. 2, a pick that currently belongs to the Washington Commanders.
Rumors and reports have swirled over the last few months that indicated Washington might select UNC quarterback Drake Maye or Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy with the pick, but Daniels appears the frontrunner the day before the draft.
Jayden Daniels | -425 |
Drake Maye | +350 |
J.J. McCarthy | +1000 |
Marvin Harrison Jr. | +8000 |
Former LSU quarterback and 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels is the favorite to go No. 2 overall.
Daniels is a dynamic dual-threat quarterback that most every NFL team would love on their team. At this point, Daniels, Drake Maye, and now McCarthy have all been rumored to be at the top of Washington's draft board, although one could argue Daniels is the "can't miss" prospect of the three.
Maye, the presumptive No. 2 overall pick at the end of the college football season, is now firmly in the mix along with Daniels and McCarthy to go to Washington.
Maye cannot equal Daniels nor McCarthy when it comes to productivity and results in college, but scouts have become enamored with his build - 6-foot-4, 230 pounds.
Every year, a surprise name, typically a quarterback, shoots up mock draft boards when the NFL rumor mill gets going in the leadup to the draft.
This year, that name is J.J. McCarthy.
McCarthy deserves plenty of praise for leading Michigan to a national championship and conducting himself in such a way that makes him attractive to NFL GMs and coaches. Given the best-in-class talent he had around him at Michigan, many are wondering if he's got the talent to spend a top-3 pick on.
