Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

After enjoying a rest in Week 5 on their bye, the Detroit Lions will look to keep pace with the Minnesota Vikings by beating the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.

The Lions have made a solid start to the season and sit at 3-1 after four games, but the Vikings have set a frantic pace in the race for the NFC North title and are now 5-0 after their 23-17 win over the New York Jets in London.

A win for Detroit would push them closer to becoming the best team in the NFC, but the Cowboys have their own fight on their hands as they trail the Washington Commanders in the race for the NFC East crown.

Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys betting picks and predictions

Over 52.5 points (-110)

The two teams met in December last season, with the Cowboys running out 20-19 winners in a thrilling contest in Arlington, Texas.

Dallas have won the last six meetings between the two teams, but that record will be put to the test this week against the rampant Lions.

Dan Campbell's team made a huge statement in Week 4 as they smashed the Seattle Seahawks 42-29 at Ford Field.

Seattle had not conceded more than 20 points before that encounter, but Campbell's team were so consistent on offense.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed all 18 of his passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns while running back Jahmyr Gibbs scored two touchdowns from 14 carries.

Detroit has an explosive offense that should be able to punish a Cowboys side that has conceded 121 points in five games.

Dallas showed last week that they can dig in when it matters, though, as they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-17 on Sunday.

Mike McCarthy's team rallied to win without Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence and Brandin Cooks, while they also lost Marshawn Kneeland and Tyler Guyton during the first half of their win over the Steelers.

Dallas have a tough stretch of fixtures on the horizon, and they cannot afford to throw in the towel against an NFC rival. Expect Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott to do all he can to keep his team in the game, and his recent performances have been competitive.

Prescott threw for 352 yards against the Steelers, and he now has 1,424 yards to his name in five games. This could be an entertaining battle with CeeDee Lamb, Jake Ferguson, and Rico Dowdle all looking to impress.

Detroit Lions -3.5 (+100)

The Lions should be refreshed and raring to go after a week's rest, and while some teams struggle for momentum after a bye, that is unlikely to be the case with Campbell's troops.

Detroit will face a Cowboys team that showed tons of heart last week, but McCarthy's team has struggled for consistency all season.

The Cowboys registered their first rush of over 10 yards last week against the Steelers, suggesting their run game needs work. That should mean Prescott sees more of the ball, which should allow Detroit's pass rushers to feast.

Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson will be the one to watch in that respect, and if they can unsettle Prescott on the whole, that should allow them to build a formidable lead.

Detroit has had a week to rest and recharge while the Cowboys are banged up in several areas. Eventually, that lack of depth will come back to haunt Dallas, and while they will show fight and bravery throughout the matchup, Campbell's team have all the advantages as they look to snap this six-game losing streak to their hosts.
