Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Dallas Cowboys will be looking to halt a two-game losing streak when they travel to Georgia in Week 9 to face a hot Atlanta Falcons team.

Sunday’s matchup already looks like a must-win game for the 3-4 Cowboys, who lost 30-24 to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football last week.

Dallas started the second half with the lead, but were outscored 21-0 in the third quarter as quarterback Dak Prescott was intercepted for a second time before three-and-outs on their next two series left the Cowboys with too much to do.

The 5-3 Falcons had no such issues in defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the second time in four weeks to assume control of the NFC South.

Kirk Cousins threw four touchdowns, including two to tight end Kyle Pitts, while running back Bijan Robinson delivered 100-plus yards from scrimmage for the fifth time this season to send a warning to Dallas.

The Cowboys have won three straight games against the Falcons and are 3-1 on the road this year, but they need to overcome problems with injuries and inconsistency if they are to keep those streaks going.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons betting picks and predictions

Over 51.5 Total Points (-110)

Atlanta’s potent offense, which has averaged just shy of 30 points per game over the last four weeks, could feast on a Cowboys defense that has struggled to either stop the run or disrupt the passing game of its opponents.

Dallas’ rush defense ranks 31st in the league, allowing 154.6 yards per game. And it was alarming to see the 49ers, who were missing All-Pro RB Christian McCaffrey and lost backup Jordan Mason to a mid-game injury, rack up 223 yards on the ground last Sunday.

The absence of star pass rusher Micah Parsons for the past three games has been telling as the Cowboys have forced only one turnover while allowing their last two opponents to amass a combined total of almost 1,000 yards.

Parsons, who has just one sack this year, has been joined on the sidelines by fellow pass rushers DeMarcus Lawrence and Marshawn Kneeland while Pro Bowl cornerback DaRon Bland (foot) has missed all of the season.

It is difficult to envisage that injury-hit unit faring any better against the Falcons' star rushers Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, who are operating in a balanced attack led by Cousins.

Prescott will be forced to throw a lot if Dallas falls behind and that should lead to even more scoring opportunities one way or another with the Cowboys QB having been picked off twice in each of the last three games.

The over is 7-3 in the Cowboys’ and Falcons' last 10 combined games and it would be no great surprise to see Over 51.5 points on the board this Sunday.

Bijan Robinson Over 101.5 rush and receiving yards (-115)

Robinson’s 790 yards from scrimmage through eight games of the 2024 season put him in exalted company among the dual-threat backs of the NFL.

The former University of Texas star has only had one 100-yard rushing game this year, but he has regularly been picking up 40 or more receiving yards.

Robinson’s combined rushing and receiving yards have been above the 101.5 mark in each of his last three games, and those performances have come while his snap counts have been decreasing as the Falcons look to protect their playmaker for a big playoff run in the second half of the season.

Dallas’ defense has given up 961 total yards these past two weeks and with San Francisco’s third-stringer Isaac Guerendo gaining 102 yards from scrimmage against them last week, backing Robinson to do the same looks worthwhile.

Tyler Allgeier 75+ rush and receiving yards (+310)

The same goes for Allgeier, whose snap counts have increased over the past few weeks.

The 24-year-old running back is more of a power runner than the shifty Robinson. He sets up his blockers and finishes strong, which could see him becoming more of a factor if the Falcons are ahead in the game and want to control the clock.

Allgeier’s only 100-plus yard game this season came against the Carolina Panthers in Week 6, but he averages a healthy 5.2 yards per carry and, at that rate, may only need 15 carries to register more than 75 yards on Sunday.
