Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Giants: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Cincinnati Bengals are already facing what looks like a must-win game as they head to MetLife Stadium to play the New York Giants on Sunday night.

Zac Taylor's Bengals team began the season with high hopes of a run at the NFL Championship, but after losing four of their first five games, even making the playoffs is already beginning to look like a tall order.

Like the Bengals, the Giants also started the season 1-3, but they began moving in the right direction with an upset win on the road against the Seattle Seahawks last week.

The Giants lead the teams' overall series 6-5, and the Giants have won the only two meetings in the last decade.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Giants betting picks and predictions

Cincinnati Bengals -3.0 (-115)

A rusty start has turned into an early crisis for the Bengals as last week's overtime loss to the Ravens dropped them to 1-4. There is little room for error if they want to return to the playoffs this year, having been the only AFC North team to miss out last year.

Three home defeats plus the road loss to the Baltimore Ravens in their first AFC North game of the season - in which the Bengals held a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter - have left Cincinnati with plenty of ground to make up on the Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers.

They have a solid chance of getting a second win on the board when they visit the Big Apple, though. Although results have not improved yet, the Bengals have looked more like their former selves with each passing week.

They went down by only one point to champions the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2 and after running the Ravens close, they can be hopeful of taking down the Giants, even if they need to score a lot of points to do so.

For once, the drama in the Big Apple has been taking place in the green half of New York, with the Jets firing their head coach Robert Saleh this week.

Giants coach Brian Daboll improved his own job security with last week's impressive 29-20 win in Seattle. The G-Men took advantage of the home defense's injury issues with running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. proving to be a pleasant surprise with 129 rush yards in place of the sidelined Devin Singletary.

That game was still in the balance until the Giants returned a blocked field-goal attempt in the final minute, and it was a fighting performance from Daboll's team, whose other win also came on the road in Cleveland in Week 3.

The Bengals' defense remains a worry, and they have allowed 129 points in their last four games. But with quarterback Joe Burrow back in form (12-2 TD-INT ratio this season), they look capable of getting their season back on track with a road win on Sunday night.

Over 48.0 total points (-110)

While the Bengals' games have averaged an entertaining 57 total points this season, the Giants' contests have come in at a more moderate 38.6, including games against the Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys in which neither team scored more than 21 points.

The Bengals don't look capable of getting involved in a low-scoring battle, with them and their opponents each having scored and allowed at least 24 points in their last four games. If that pattern holds, there should be Over 48.0 points in this one.

Bengals running back Zack Moss was an injury concern earlier this week after leaving the Ravens game with an ankle injury. But, even if he is not available, Taylor has a more than capable alternative in the explosive Chase Brown, who already leads the team with 230 rushing yards at an average of 5.6 per play despite having had 16 fewer carries than Moss.

Cincinnati wide receiver Tee Higgins returned to the team last week after missing two games and showed no ill effects as he racked up nine catches for 83 yards and two touchdowns against the strong Ravens defense.

The Giants' firepower would be boosted if either Singletary or prolific rookie receiver Malik Nabers is able to return, but whoever suits up they should be capable of moving the ball well enough against a Bengals defense that ranks 31st in points per game allowed and 26th in yards per game allowed.

The Bengals are tied for fourth in the league in points per game despite their 1-4 record and look set to play their part in another high-scoring contest.
