NFL action runs from September to January, but we're going to look ahead and predict which players will dominate en route to winning the league's biggest individual honors.
While every player and coach will tell you the NFL Championship is the only prize they are interested in winning this season, there are also a number of prestigious individual awards they can earn and the debate over who should receive them always heats up as the season goes on.
The biggest honors include the NFL MVP award and the prizes for the top offensive and defensive players and the rookie version of them, plus the coach of the year and the comeback player of the year.
Let’s take a look at the markets for some of the 2024 NFL awards and reveal our favorite picks.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has won the NFL Championship MVP award in three of the last five years, but he has won the NFL regular-season MVP honor only twice, in 2018 and 2022.
In fact, there have been three recent two-time winners, with Aaron Rodgers bagging the honor in 2020 and 2021, while Lamar Jackson was successful in 2019 and again last year.
Rodgers also had earlier wins in 2011 and 2014 and the award has gone to a quarterback in each of the last 11 seasons since running back Adrian Peterson's victory in 2012.
It was no real surprise that Mahomes was passed over last year, as the Chiefs offense struggled at times with receivers dropping far too many passes, although they raised their game in time to win the championship.
With speedy rookie Xavier Worthy and the experienced Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown added to the receiver room at Arrowhead Stadium this season and elite tight end Travis Kelce back for another title chase, Mahomes has a great chance to shine again.
The Offensive Player of the Year Award has been split between running backs and wide receivers over the last four seasons and Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson could make a strong case to win it in his second NFL season.
The brakes are off the Falcons' offense with the departure of head coach Arthur Smith, who seemed obsessed with giving the ball to supporting players ahead of his star performers.
Robinson still managed to flash a ton of ability in his first NFL campaign, rushing for 976 yards and gaining 487 more as a receiver, but he has a chance to increase that tally substantially in a more expansive offense under new head coach Raheem Morris and new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson.
An electric runner either from hand-offs or after the catch, Robinson should be able to showcase his skills in his sophomore season.
Elite pass-rushers have dominated the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award in recent seasons, with TJ Watt, Nick Bosa and Myles Garrett winning in the last three years.
Garrett, the star act for the impressive Cleveland Browns defense under Jim Schwartz last season, could be underrated at +650 odds to retain his title and multi-time winners are nothing new, as now-retired former superstars JJ Watt and Aaron Donald each won three times.
If there is to be another new name added to the list, however, then Aidan Hutchinson of the Detroit Lions could be the man.
The former Michigan star knows all about the league now as he prepares to enter his third season and, after sack totals of 9.5 and 11.5 in his first two NFL campaigns, he is already considered one of the best defensive players in the game.
Comeback Player of the Year is always one of the trickiest award markets to assess as winners can come from out of the blue.
Bills safety Damar Hamlin was a massive favorite last season, but a lack of playing time on his return to play after a cardiac arrest on the field the previous season ultimately seemed to sway voters.
Instead the prize went to veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who was signed off the street to lead the Browns to the playoffs.
Quarterbacks dominate the betting this year with Aaron Rodgers (+160), Joe Burrow (+225) and Kirk Cousins (+400) leading the way after injuries last season, but Colts QB Anthony Richardson could catch the eye of voters and represents a better value bet.
Richardson's rookie season was cut short due to a shoulder injury but he soon made himself a fan favorite in Indianapolis and could put himself in the mix to win this award.
