Two teams with World Series aspirations will meet on Thursday’s Opening Day.
And it will mark the start of a new era as all-world superstar Juan Soto officially makes his Mets debut. The 26-year-old future Hall of Famer signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with New York this offseason after helping lead the Yankees to the World Series in 2024.
It’s officially all systems go in Mets owner Steve Cohen’s fifth season as team owner.
Last season was the first since 2016 in which the Astros failed to advance beyond the Divisional round of the postseason. With significant outgoings this offseason, including Alex Bregman and Kyle Tucker, it won’t be the same Houston lineup of old in 2025.
Let’s get into what you need to know to watch and follow this Opening Day matchup.
