The New York Mets are +750 to win the 2025 World Series after landing 4x All-Star Juan Soto in free agency on a record-setting 15-year, $765 million deal.
The Mets now have the second-shortest odds to win it all behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (+350), and jumped ahead of NL East rivals the Atlanta Braves (+850) and Soto’s former team, the New York Yankees (+900).
Soto’s deal is the largest in professional sports history and exceeds the 10-year, $700 million deal signed by Shohei Ohtani last offseason.
There is no doubt that the Mets, who have not won the World Series since 1986, are getting one of the premier hitters in the MLB.
Soto entered the MLB at 19 and is already on pace to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. The 26-year-old has already won a World Series, a batting title, hit 201 home runs and provided numerous clutch playoff moments in his time playing for the Washington Nationals and Yankees this past postseason.
He will join a Mets team coming off a thrilling playoff run in which they reached NLCS, where they lost to the Dodgers four games to two. New York defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card round and Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS on the way in what was the franchise’s best postseason run in nearly a decade.
Soto is the ideal player to add to a team looking to get over the hump and compete for the World Series.
