New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets preview: Odds, injuries, stats, how to watch

NBA Rivals Week tips off with the high-flying New York Knicks visiting crosstown rivals the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night at the Barclays Center.

The Knicks have won nine of their last 11 since acquiring OG Anunoby, and currently sit fifth in the Eastern Conference at 26-17.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn is struggling. Around this time last season, the newly-acquired Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson helped spark the Nets’ season into the playoffs. A year later, that spark has run out. Brooklyn is currently 17-25 and look like they will be vying for a Play-In spot this season, at best.

Knicks vs. Nets Stats

Jalen Brunson has excelled in his second season with the Knicks, and is averaging 28.9 points and 8.4 assists per game on 48.1% shooting since the acquisition of OG Anunoby on December 30.

In his last three games, Brunson has averaged 12.7 points on 60.9% shooting in the fourth quarter.

Since joining New York, Anunoby has posted 14.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

New York is one of the best rebounding teams in the NBA, ranking 3rd in the league with 46.3 total rebounds per game.

The Nets are right behind in the rebounding categories, ranking 5th in the NBA in both total rebounds (46) and offensive rebounds (12.4) per game.

Brooklyn shoots at a high volume, but not for a high percentage. The Nets rank 4th in field goals attempted (91.5) per game and 7th in threes attempted (37.8) per game, but shoot just 45.9% as a team, the 28th best clip in the league.

Head-to-Head

This is the second meeting between the Knicks and the Nets this season. New York defeated Brooklyn, 121-102, on December 20 at the Barclays Center.

Prior to their third meeting last season, the Nets had won nine consecutive games against the Knicks, dating from January 2021 to January 2023.

The better all-time head-to-head record goes to the Nets, who are 107-104 all-time against their intra-city rivals.
