New York Knicks vs. Indiana Pacers Game 3: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The New York Knicks take their 2-0 series lead into Indianapolis on Friday night, facing the Indiana Pacers in Game 3 the teams' second-round series in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

The No. 2 Knicks won the first two games from the No. 6 Pacers in New York by scores of 121-117 and 130-121.

To get you set for Game 3, read our experts’ best bets and predictions below.

New York Knicks vs. Indiana Pacers betting picks and predictions

New York Knicks +7.5 (-110)

Well before the 2024 NBA Playoffs began, the Knicks’ postseason potential was doubted by many when Julius Randle suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. Since the playoffs started, additional key pieces Bojan Bogdanovic, Mitchell Robinson, and now OG Anunoby, have suffered injuries.

Bogdanovic and Robinson are out for the remainder of the playoffs, and Anunoboy is a game-time decision on Friday after missing most of the second half of Game 2.

The Pacers, on the other hand, are only missing Benedict Mathurin, keeping almost the entire group of players on the floor that led them to become the NBA’s highest-scoring unit in 40 years. Despite the Pacers' depth advantage and the explosive offense, we still believe the smart money is on the Knicks, at least when it comes to the spread.

Led by their “Nova Connection” trio of Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart, who have combined to score 168 points in the first two games of this series, the Knicks won the battles on the glass and played tough defense.

It’s evident the Knicks are playing with more heart and that their role players - especially Miles 'Deuce' McBride - have stepped up in the absence of Randle, Robinson and potentially Anunoby.

The Knicks have a sizable cushion on the spread due to injuries, but until the Pacers prove they can stop Brunson, DiVincenzo and Hart, we happily side with the Knicks as considerable underdogs.

Over 222.5 Total Points (-110)

Considering the Pacers are the NBA’s highest-scoring team since 1984 and ranked 24th in defensive rating this season, it’s no surprise they play a lot of high-scoring games, even in the playoffs where defenses noticeably tighten.

Five of the eight Pacers playoff games so far have cleared 223 total points, including the first two games of this series where it hasn’t been close.

In similar fashion to the spread, the total is lower here due to all the Knicks’ injuries, but at the rapid pace the Pacers play and the offensive production of the Knicks’ stars, we are confident the Pacers force the Knicks into another high-scoring affair.

Game 3 is expected to continue the trend of hitting Over the total points line in this series.

Josh Hart Over 5.5 Assists (-125)

Josh Hart logged 48 minutes in Games 1 and 2, and with the Knicks growing thinner, the reliance on Hart, DiVincenzo and Brunson continues to escalate. Hart has loudly displayed his clutch scoring and rebounding in the 2024 Playoffs, but his playmaking always seems to fly under the radar.

Hart has surpassed 5.5 assists in three straight playoff games now, tallying at least four assists in six straight.

We often use the logic that more minutes played creates more opportunities, which leads to more production, and that certainly applies here.

With a reasonable line, a reasonable price and even more dependence on Hart from the Knicks, that means he'll see even more usage in hostile territory in Game 3, we are riding with Hart Over 5.5 Assists.

Tyrese Haliburton Over 19.5 Points (-115)

Tyrese Haliburton is not a typical No. 1 star in the modern NBA. He is a pass-first, dynamic playmaker who can score efficiently but does not possess the killer mentality and skill set to go get a bucket at will.

Still, Haliburton averaged just over 20 points per game this season, and in Game 2 against the Knicks, he posted 34 points – his highest mark yet in the 2024 Playoffs.

Haliburton dialed it in from deep in Game 2, splashing seven three-pointers on 11 attempts. With shooting confidence regained heading back home down 2-0, we expect Haliburton to exemplify why he is his team’s best player as he looks to carry the Pacers to a much-needed win.

When times are desperate, the stars must come out. With a points total below his season average and 15 points lower than his Game 2 output, take a chance on Tyrese Haliburton Over 19.5 Points on Friday.
