New Orleans Saints Next Head Coach Odds: Aaron Glenn, Mike McCarthy favored

The New Orleans Saints have the NFL's most expensive roster, and they're looking for a new head coach after a 5-12 season.

New Orleans is a league-worst $61 million over the salary cap, per Spotrac, which means that reshaping the roster in a meaningful way will take at least a couple of seasons.

QB Derek Carr has two more seasons of a $50+ million cap hit, and four other players will make at least $10 million in 2025 and 2026. On top of that, in 2025, the Saints will pay over $45 million in dead money to players no longer on the team.

With aging stars, a four-season playoff drought and millions of dollars of void money set to count against the cap through 2027, the Saints head coaching job might not be one of the most coveted in the NFL.

Here, we have the latest odds to become the next New Orleans Saints head coach.

Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy are the +110 joint-favorites to get the Saints head coaching job, and they're two of just three candidates with odds shorter than 18/1 to get the job.

Glenn took over as Lions DC in 2021. In his debut season, Detroit ranked 31st in points allowed and 29th in yards allowed. In 2024, they ranked seventh in points allowed and 20th in yards allowed.

McCarthy has been a head coach since 2006 - with the exception of a year off in 2019 - and he won a championship with the Green Bay Packers in 2010. But, he went 1-3 in the playoffs with Dallas.

Third in the odds is Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady (+650), who helped Buffalo finish second in points scored in 2024. Brady has played a key role in Bills QB Josh Allen's MVP-level season, and he helped the team cope with the loss of No. 1 WR Stefon Diggs by spreading the ball around to several solid skill position players.

Denver Broncos personnel executive David Shaw and Philadelphia Eagles OC Kellen Moore are tied for a distant fourth in the market at +1800.

Shaw coached the Stanford Cardinal from 2011 to 2022, leading them to a 96-54 record over 12 seasons. During his time there, he helped develop NFL players including Andrew Luck, Christian McCaffrey, Zach Ertz, Dalton Schultz, Solomon Thomas, Bobby Okereke and Tanner McKee.

Moore helped develop the Eagles' league-best rushing offense led by Saquon Barkley, and he may be the man to get the most out of RB Alvin Kamara and offensive linemen Ryan Ramczyk, Erik McCoy, Cesar Ruiz and Taliese Fuaga.

The next tier of candidates, from 25/1 to 40/1, are Minnesota Vikings DC Anthony Weaver, New York Giants OC Mike Kafka, Houston Texans OC Bobby Slowik, and Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi.
