The New Jersey Devils surprisingly missed the playoffs last season, but after a busy offseason, they enter the 2024/25 NHL campaign as the second favorite to win the Stanley Cup.
The team kept together its talented core of young players, including Jack and Luke Hughes, Jesper Bratt, Nico Hischier and Dawson Mercer. General manager Tom Fitzgerald brought in Brett Pesce, Stefan Noesen, Johnathan Kovacevic, and Jacob Markstrom this offseason to complement those players.
New Jersey also hired former Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe in the same role.
While the Devils ranked 14th in goals scored with 264 last season, they struggled to keep the puck out of the net with 283 goals allowed, good for the sixth-most in the league.
Markstrom will help New Jersey on the goal prevention front with his .913 career save percentage, and defensive additions Pesce and Kovacevic should help, too.
The Devils look like a much more well-rounded team entering 2024/25, so let's take a look at their odds.
