Nebraska Cornhuskers and Oregon Ducks are set for a Big Ten matchup on Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, OR.
Both of these teams are coming off close losses. Oregon fell 17-15 to UCLA last week, while Nebraska's upset bid over Indiana fell short in a 20-17 defeat.
Oregon is now 3-2 on the season, while Nebraska is 5-1.
With kick-off slated for 11 p.m. ET on FOX, it's time to break down the odds and go over the best bets to make for this Big Ten clash.
Oregon entered the new season with hopes of competing for a National Championship, but five games in the Ducks already have two losses and their playoff hopes are already on life support.
Dan Lanning's squad has already lost to Oklahoma State as a 23.5-point favorite, and to UCLA as a 10.5-point favorite.
It's clear that Oregon hasn't thrived as a favorite this season and to make matters even worse, Dante Moore has been ruled out for this game as he continues recovering from a concussion he suffered against USC.
The Oregon offense looked completely lost without Moore last week. The Ducks turned the ball over a whopping seven times against UCLA and Dylan Raiola was benched in the second half.
Raiola completed just six of his 19 pass attempts 43 yards with two interceptions before Brock Thomas took over. Thomas did better, but that isn't saying much.
With Thomas slated to start this contest, it's tough to have much faith in an Oregon offense going up against a stingy Nebraska defense that just held Indiana to 20 points last week.
Simply put, there's no way I want to lay 6.5 points with Oregon. Nebraska is an under-the-radar team who is hungry to get back into the win column, so take the points with the Cornhuskers on the road.
The Oregon offense is extremely limited without Moore leading the way. The Ducks lacked any sort of explosive plays last week against UCLA and Nebraska did a good job of keeping Indiana in check last week.
The Cornhuskers were especially stout against the run, as they held a strong Indiana rushing attack to just 65 yards on 22 carries.
With Oregon's QB situation in flux, the Ducks could lean on the running, but it may be tough to find success. Nebraska should be able to keep Oregon in check.
Nebraska QB Anthony Colandrea is an effective runner, but his work in the passing game can be hit-or-miss. He is completing 64% of his passes this season, but is averaging just 7.6 yards per attempt.
Nebraska likes to utilize the run game to control the clock and that could be an advantageous strategy when going into a tough environment at Autzen Stadium.
All in all, this has the makings of a relatively low-scoring affair.
Nebraska QB Colandrea has been a very effective runner this season. In three Big Ten games, has rushed for 66, 108, and 47 yards.
He's racked up 10+ carries in all of those games, including 17 last week against Indiana. Those came in the form of both designed runs as well as improvised scrambles, meaning his elusivity can lead to gaining yards in a variety of ways.
On the season, Colandrea is up to 296 rushing yards on 55 carries, which equates to a strong 5.4 yards per carry average.
Given his steady rushing volume, look for Colandrea to reach the 30-yard mark on the ground for a fourth consecutive game in this one.
