Wisconsin vs. Illinois: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Sunday’s Big Ten Conference Tournament Championship game will feature the Wisconsin Badgers and the Illinois Fighting Illini, scheduled to tip-off at 3:30 PM ET at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Wisconsin comes into this game with an overall record of 22-12. The Badgers have been on the bubble for some time now, and entered the Big Ten Tournament as the fifth seed.

Wisconsin blew out Maryland in the second round by a score of 87-56, beat Northwestern 70-61 in the quarterfinals, and upset number one seed and number three in the country Purdue 76-75 in the semifinals on Saturday.

On the other side of this matchup is Illinois, who comes into this game with a record of 25-8 and are ranked 13th in the country.

The Illini are the number two seed in the Big Ten Tournament and beat Ohio State 77-74 in the quarterfinals and Nebraska 98-87 in the semifinals on Saturday to advance to the Championship Game.

Wisconsin vs. Illinois betting picks and predictions

Illinois to win ML (-155)

Our best bet for this Big Ten Championship game will target Illinois to win this game. The Illini’s biggest strength this season has been their offense, highlighted by the fact that they are averaging 83.7 points per game this season, which ranks 11th in the country.

Illinois have showed their offensive prowess further by averaging 87.5 points per game in their two Big Ten tournament games. As for their defense, the Illini are allowing 73 points per game this season and 80.5 points per game in the Big Ten tournament.

Despite Illinois’ defensive struggles, Wisconsin has not been a team that regularly scores efficiently. The Badgers are averaging 74.7 points per game this season, but this has only increased slightly to 77.7 points per game in the Big Ten tournament.

In the lone meeting between these two teams this season, Illinois won 91-83. They have a much more balanced team compared to Wisconsin and because their offense has proven to be more consistent, backing the Illinois Money Line (-155) will be our best bet for this Big Ten Championship game.

Terrence Shannon Jr. Over 21.5 Points (-130)

Our best player prop will focus on Terrence Shannon Jr. from the Illinois Illini to go over his points prop. Shannon Jr. is the leading scorer for the Illini this season and is averaging 21.9 points per game.

In two Big Ten tournament games, Shannon Jr. is averaging 34 points per game, which includes a 40-point game in Saturday’s semifinal against Nebraska. Further, in the lone game against Wisconsin this season, Shannon Jr. scored 23 points.

Because Shannon Jr. has been dominant in the Big Ten tournament and has had success against Wisconsin this season, backing Shannon Jr. to go over his points prop of 21.5 (-120) will be our best bet.
