Texas A&M vs. Nebraska: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The first round of the tournament pits the Texas A&M Aggies against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Friday night.

Nebraska is the No. 8 seed while the Aggies are the No. 9 seed, so this is expected to be a very close matchup. Neither team won their respective conference, but still managed to make the tournament thanks to an excellent regular season.

Texas A&M enters the tourney on a roll. The Aggies have won five of their last six games with some notable wins over Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Kentucky.

Wade Taylor IV has been the star of the Texas A&M offense this season and he should play a crucial role in Friday’s game.

However, Nebraska has a star of its own in the shape of Keisei Tominaga, who averages nearly 15 points a game.

Texas A&M vs. Nebraska betting picks and predictions

Nebraska -1.5 (-110)

Nebraska enters as the eighth seed and winners of seven of their last nine games. The Cornhuskers have had a stellar season in the Big 10, with a lot of credit due to their dangerous offense.

Led by Tominaga, who is a lights-out perimeter shooter, Nebraska has an above average starting five that plays very well together. If the Cornhuskers can limit the damage on defense, they can make a strong run in the tournament.

Texas A&M lost to Florida in the SEC Tournament in a very-high scoring game. Wade Taylor IV was phenomenal in the game as he recorded 30 points which improved his season average to nearly 19 points per game.

In Texas A&M’s last four games, it has scored 90, 97, 80, and 86 points. Offense isn’t the problem with this team - it’s the defense.

During that four-game span, the Aggies have allowed 95, 87, 71, and 60 points. Because of Texas A&M’s weak defense, Nebraska should be able to take advantage on the perimeter.

Over 146.5 (-110)

These two teams have efficient offenses that are above average from the perimeter. In their most recent game, the Cornhuskers attempted 27 three-pointers. That’s not unusual for Nebraska since it has several elite shooters on the outside.

The Aggies weren’t too far behind as they attempted 21 shots from deep in their loss to Florida. If both teams continue to rely on perimeter shooting, this game could see 80 points in the first half.

Nebraska and Texas A&M are also similar in the fact that neither defense is very good. Both teams lack a strong defensive presence in the paint and can be poor at defending the perimeter, which is a recipe for a high-scoring game.

In a game this important, back the offenses and take the over on Friday night.
