Tennessee vs. LSU Women: Picks, Predictions and Odds

These two programs matched up exactly a month ago, with LSU winning in Knoxville, 89-87, on a Kailyn Gilbert layup with one second remaining in regulation. Gilbert finished with 22 points while Aneesah Morrow had a dominant performance inside, posting 23 points and 21 rebounds. Flau’Jae Johnson had 20 points and eight rebounds for LSU.

Jewel Spear led the Volunteers with 25 points, while Talaysia Cooper contributed 24 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Tennessee was done in by 18 turnovers. That loss was just one of many during a very frustrating 22-day stretch for the Volunteers, who had started the season 13-0. They would lose five of their next seven games by a combined 15 points, including this matchup with LSU.

Tennessee has righted the ship with two straight wins, including a huge 80-76 victory over No. 5 Connecticut Thursday night. That was the first win for the Volunteers over the long-time rivals since 2007. Spearman had 16 points and seven rebounds to pace coach Kim Caldwell’s team. Caldwell, in her first year at the helm, will attempt to move Tennessee up the SEC standings. The Vols currently sit ninth at 4-5 in conference play.

Coach Kim Mulkey and LSU are at it again. The Tigers have gone to two straight Final Fours and won it all in 2023, and the team is poised to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament again this spring. Mulkey’s squad is 24-1 overall and 9-1 in the SEC, tied with Texas one game behind South Carolina. The Gamecocks handed LSU its only loss this season last month.

Johnson leads the team with 19.9 points per game, while Morrow is averaging 18.4 points while grabbing a nation-leading 14.2 rebounds per contest. Mikaylah Williams completes the trifecta, averaging 17 points per game.

Johnson went for 19 points and seven rebounds and Morrow posted her nation-leading 22nd double-double (13 points and 14 rebounds) in a 71-60 victory over Missouri the last time out, while Williams added 16 points.

Tennessee vs. LSU Women betting picks and predictions

LSU Women -4.5 (-110)

Tennessee has been through the gauntlet and proved it could hang with the conference’s titans. The Volunteers lost by just one to Oklahoma, two to the Tigers, one to Vanderbilt, four to Texas, and seven to South Carolina. More importantly, with the four-point victory over the Huskies Thursday, Caldwell’s team proved they could win a close matchup. That could come into play this afternoon.

LSU has been unstoppable at home, going 15-0 in Baton Rouge. Tennessee is going to have a tough time pulling off the win, but covering the spread is another matter. The Tigers’ last-second victory in Knoxville gives them just enough of an edge to pull off another win in front of the home crowd.

Look for the sequel to nearly match the original between these two tough SEC squads, and for LSU to cover the three-point spread as favorites late.

Over 166.5 total points (-110)

These are two of the top four scoring offenses in the country. Tennessee is second, averaging 90.6 points. LSU is close behind, averaging 87.6 points per contest, good for fourth in the country.

These two combined for 176 points last month. While it may not quite get to that point today, Tennessee and LSU combine to total more than 166.5 points.
