Gonzaga Bulldogs vs Kansas Jayhawks: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are looking to make the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament for another season, and this year’s team is a veteran group that has the talent and capability of making a deep run.

However, before they can think about a run to the last four, the Bulldogs will have to vanquish a familiar “blue blood” in the Kansas Jayhawks in the Round of 32 on Saturday. The Jayhawks haven’t had the best of seasons in 2023-24, but Bill Self’s team is undoubtedly still a formidable opponent for this Gonzaga team to face in March.

Can the Jayhawks battle through adversity and move on, or will Gonzaga advance to yet another Sweet 16 under head coach Mark Few?

Gonzaga vs Kansas betting picks and predictions

Gonzaga -3.5 (-115)

While our expert likes Gonzaga to move on to the second weekend for a ninth straight season, the path to a blowout victory feels a lot more likely for the Zags than winning the game by a close margin and failing to cover this number.

As most have pointed out, this Kansas team is not the dominant force that we’re used to seeing in most years under Self, and the Jayhawks will be missing Kevin McCullar in this matchup.

Kansas is already a team that doesn’t have much in the way of depth, so McCullar’s absence hurts even more in this short turnaround setting, especially when the Jayhawks will be playing at elevation against an accelerated pace that Gonzaga will look to force.

We’ll see how the beleaguered Jayhawks hold up in this one after coming off a thriller against Samford, while the Bulldogs blew out McNeese State and spent much of the second half going deep into their bench and resting key starters.

Even separating the massive situational edge that Gonzaga has in this game, the Bulldogs have simply been the better team from a metrics and eye test perspective of late. Over the last 6 weeks, the Bulldogs have been a top 10 team per BartTorvik and the numbers and wins speak for themselves.

This is one of the best offenses in the nation and they’ll look to push the tempo and generate a ton of easy looks in transition and from the outside, something that Samford did with ease against this Kansas defense. Additionally, we can trust Gonzaga’s offensive rebounding to generate extra possessions against a Jayhawks team that doesn’t clean up on the glass. If the Bulldogs win, it could easily be by a large margin.

Dajuan Harris to make over 0.5 Three pointers - (-115)

There are plenty of player prop markets in this first round matchup, but the one to hone in on is in Dajuan Harris to record at least one made three-pointer, which is listed at -115 odds.

Harris made a three in Thursday’s game against Samford and he also attempted five shots from beyond the arc, which is par for the course when McCullar is out of the lineup. Expect a higher shot volume from Harris in this one, so it’s hard not to like the value we’re getting on this prop.
