The No. 5 UConn Huskies (26-3, 16-0 Big East), on the verge of a second straight perfect season in Big East play, look to clinch the regular season conference title tonight at home against the No. 22 Creighton Bluejays (23-4, 15-1 Big East).
These two teams met in Omaha last month, with UConn winning 72-61. Reigning Big East Player of the Year Paige Bueckers had 22 points while Sarah Strong, one of the top first-year players in the nation, had 26 points and 12 rebounds.
Morgan Maly led Creighton with 14 points and nine rebounds, followed by Molly Mogensen with 14 points and seven rebounds, Lauren Jensen with 11 points and seven rebounds, and Brooke Littrell with 12 points. The Huskies have never lost to Creighton, going 9-0 against the Bluejays.

After losing twice by an average of 32 points last season, Creighton is working to close the gap against the Huskies. Jensen, who leads Creighton with 18.3 points per game, and Maly (17.5 ppg, 5.7 rpg) are in line for their third straight All-Big East first-team selections.
Coach Jim Flanery, now in his 23rd year, has led the team to seven NCAA Tournament berths, including three straight. The senior trio of Jensen, Maly, and Mogensen (9.4 ppg, 4.1 apg) reached the second round last season before falling to UCLA, 67-63.
Jensen scored a game-high 28 points, Maly had 15 points and seven rebounds, and Mogensen chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds as the Bluejays won at DePaul on Sunday, 83-74. Creighton is 11-2 on the road this season and 1-3 against teams in the Top 25.
In UConn's last game, Bueckers had 23 points and 10 assists while Strong added 16 points, nine rebounds, and five assists as the Huskies handled Butler on Saturday, 86-47.
It was the team’s fourth straight road win, a streak which includes perhaps the most impressive victory this season, an 87-58 defeat of South Carolina, ending the Gamecocks’ 71-game home winning streak. Azzi Fudd, who is averaging 13 points a game after missing last season with a torn meniscus, scored a game-high 28 points in the rout and has shot an incredible 55.0 percent from three since Jan. 5th.
Bueckers, a two-time conference Player of the Year, leads the Huskies with 18.7 points per game, to go along with 4.8 assists. Strong leads the team with eight rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game, to go with 15.9 points.
Although it looks like Creighton has indeed closed the gap with its impressive senior class, UConn isn’t going anywhere.
The Huskies have won four straight regular season and conference tournament victories since returning to the Big East and show no signs of relinquishing either streak. Look for UConn to win and cover the spread as favorites.
The teams combined to score 131 points in Omaha last month. UConn is miffed about the 61 points it allowed in that contest, the most the team has surrendered in conference play this season.
In fact, the Huskies are only allowing 47 points in Big East games through 16 contests, and the 52 points they allow per game overall this season is second-best in the nation. Our experts are expecting more of that in this contest, while the offense does enough to secure the win.
Look for Creighton and UConn to total Under 140.5 points tonight.
