Sacramento Kings vs. Boston Celtics: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Sacramento Kings travel across the country to take on the Boston Celtics in a game pitting the Western Conference's 11th-placed team against the East's second-placed team at TD Garden on Friday night.

On the standings alone, it would look like a comfortable win for the Celtics (27-10), but the Kings (18-19) have rediscovered some form in recent weeks and are on a five-game winning streak.

The defending champion Celtics have not been at their best so far this season, but three wins in four games - all on the road - look to have gotten them back on track.

Sacramento Kings vs. Boston Celtics betting picks and predictions

Boston Celtics -10.5 (-110)

Head coach Joe Mazzulla’s Celtics have been on a road trip since the turn of the year and picked up wins over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets.

Wednesday’s 118-106 victory in Colorado was a standout success, with the Nuggets currently sat fourth in the West with a 21-15 record.

That is the type of victory that could kick-start Boston’s campaign, with the Celtics now six games behind the East-leading Cleveland Cavaliers.

Jayson Tatum was the standout player of the four-game road trip, with the forward firing 108 total points at an average of 27.0 per game.

After an inconsistent start to the season, Sacramento are back to their best with five straight wins since New Year’s Eve. Three of those victories came against teams with winning records – the Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies and Miami Heat.

It’s worth noting though, that four of the five wins came on their home court and this is a very different challenge, especially without one of their key stars.

De’Aaron Fox has missed the last two games with a muscle strain and it looks unlikely that he will be fit to return on Friday.

The guard is the Kings’ leading points scorer and ranked sixth in the league with an average of 26.7 points per game.

The head-to-head stats also point to the Celtics, who have won all of the last six meetings between the two franchises. You have to go back to March 2021 for the last time the Kings won at TD Garden, so back Boston to continue the streak and cover the spread in a home win.

Alternate Game Total: Over 230.5 Total Points (+100)

These two teams are both inside the top 10 for scoring in the NBA, with the Celtics averaging 118.5 points per game and the Kings averaging 116.0.

Sacramento has scored 120+ points in three of their last six games, including dropping 138 in the win over Memphis earlier this month.

Boston hasn’t been dominating the paint in recent weeks, but they love to shoot the three and scores on their home court suggest a big number could be on the way.

The Celtics have averaged 127 points in their last three matchups at TD Garden and have two players inside the top-20 scorers in the NBA.

Tatum is ranked fifth with a 28.1 average – which includes 29 against the Nuggets - while Jaylen Brown is 17th with 23.9 points per game.

DeMar DeRozan Over 19.5 Points (-105)

With Fox looking set to stay on the sideline, DeMar DeRozan looks like the main candidate to be Sacramento’s top scorer in Boston.

The former Chicago Bulls star has had previous success over the current champions, posting 41 points for the Toronto Raptors in a win over the Celtics in 2017. He hit 37, along with seven rebounds, for the Bulls against Boston in 2021 and then 46 points in a 2022 clash.

DeRozan goes into Friday’s matchup having scored 30 points against Miami in Tuesday’s overtime win.

He may not score that many, but he should clear his 19.5-point line for Friday's showdown with the defending champions.
