Phoenix Suns vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Game 2: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Minnesota Timberwolves face the Phoenix Suns in Game 2 of their playoff series on Tuesday night after a convincing 120-95 win in the series opener.

This is the final game in Minneapolis before the teams head to Phoenix for two games, and the Wolves will be looking to make home advantage count once again in order to take a commanding lead to Arizona.

Phoenix Suns vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Game 2 betting picks and predictions

Over 211.5 points (-110)

After Minnesota’s blowout win in the series opener, backing the hosts to cover a -3 handicap in the Spread does look tempting but we should probably expect a response from Phoenix in Game 2.

If they can get the series back to 1-1 they will have the advantage ahead of a pair of home games, but falling 2-0 behind would be a massive blow.

Whether or not the Suns will be able to triumph against this well-organized and talented Wolves outfit remains to be seen - but we should at least see a significantly improved offensive display from the visitors.

The Game 1 defeat was just the third time in Phoenix’s last 10 games that they have failed to reach triple digits and during the regular season they averaged 116.2 points per game.

Meanwhile, Minnesota have scored at least 100 points in each of their last 12 home games and have gone over 110 in four of their last six at the Target Center.

At least 212 points have been scored in total in the Wolves’ last six games and in five of the Suns’ last six, so backing these teams to combine for Over 211.5 between them looks a strong play in this key first-round game in the Western Conference.

Anthony Edwards Over 25.5 points (-110)

Anthony Edwards is the first option in the Minnesota offense and he led the scoring in Game 1 with 33 points.

The two-time All-Star guard finished up the regular season averaging 26 points per game and could well be set for another huge night on Tuesday.

Edwards has scored at least 26 points in three of his last six games, during which he weighed in with a career-high 51 points in a comeback win over Washington Wizards. He has entered the playoffs on a hot streak.

Edwards averaged 24.6 points per-game in the regular season last year but that figure stood at 31.6 in the playoffs.

This is his third year in the postseason and in the two previous campaigns he has averaged more points than he did in the regular season, so Edwards is clearly a player who has a ‘playoff mode’ and it looks as if he has found his groove already.

His target of 26 points looks fairly modest for the top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Rudy Gobert Over 12.5 rebounds (-130)

Minnesota didn’t just impress with their offensive play in Game 1, and their well-drilled defense was on point throughout as they limited the Suns to just 95 points. Repeating that kind of performance against such a skilled attack will be tricky but with Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns, they have a chance.

Gobert finished with 16 rebounds in the series opener and he has now had at least 14 in six of his last eight games.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year averaged 12.9 rebounds per game in the regular season, and he will be looking to repeat his dominant performance from the series opener.
