Phoenix Suns vs. Milwaukee Bucks: Odds, picks, predictions, injuries, TV & more

There are seven games happening in the Association on Tuesday night, and arguably the best game also happens to be the last as the Milwaukee Bucks travel to Arizona to take on the Phoenix Suns.

There will be plenty of star power on show with the likes of Damian Lillard, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker set to be involved. The two teams have very similar records and possess similar strengths and weaknesses, so it is shaping up to be a great game.

The Suns have been tabbed as  favorites in Phoenix, giving plenty of value on the Bucks as visiting underdogs.

Can Doc Rivers and the Bucks turn things around or will Booker and the Suns win their 11th game in 14 tries?

Phoenix Suns -4.5 (-110)

It’s been a rough start for Doc Rivers in Milwaukee. In just a week, there have already been several instances of bad coaching while Giannis Antetokounmpo has even walked off the court before a game ended.

The Bucks are loaded with talent, but the chemistry building has taken longer than expected. Damian Lillard is still an elite guard, but he's not a great defender and he has not adapted to Antetokounmpo’s style of play that well. All of that has contributed to the Bucks losing three of their last four games.

On the other side, the Suns have been on a roll. Phoenix’s last three wins have come by 28, 16, and 13-point margins. Those big leads have allowed Devin Booker and Kevin Durant to frequently rest in the fourth quarter and stay healthy.

Plus, the Bucks don't travel particularly well as they are 12-12 on the road compared to 21-5 at home, so the Suns with the points is the pick in this game.

Devin Booker to score 30 or more points (+115)

When the spotlight gets bright, Devin Booker plays his best. It wasn’t too long ago that Booker scored 62 points against the Pacers, so he has the ability to score in bunches against good teams. He is a strong three-point shooter and will likely take around six attempts from deep, but Booker is at his best in the mid-range.

That’s an area the Bucks have struggled to defend this season, as teams shoot more from midrange against the Bucks (12.5 attempts) than any other team, and Milwaukee has the second-worst defensive field goal percentage in that area, only beaten by the Detroit Pistons. Just two games ago, Luka Doncic scored 40 points against the Bucks from a balance of three-pointers and mid-range shots.

Booker has also been fabulous at home this season considering he is shooting nearly 40% from deep in Phoenix. He averages over 26 points per game at home, so backing him to score 30 or more isn’t too far from his season average.

Since the total for this game - and the fact the Bucks play with the third-fastest pace - suggests both teams will score around 120 points, Booker should have plenty of chances to reach the milestone.

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Phoenix Suns Stats

These teams are incredibly similar in the fact that they both rely on their offense to cover their below-average defense. Heading into Tuesday’s game, the Bucks and Suns rank fourth and seventh in offensive rating, respectively.

In terms of defensive ratings, the Suns and Bucks rank 16th and 19th respectively. The Bucks allow the sixth-most points per game, while Phoenix allows the 14th-most.

Offense is certainly the way both teams try to win games, but the winner of this matchup will be the team that does better on defense.

The Bucks are much more dominant at home as they are just 12-12 on the road compared to their 21-5 record at the Fiserv Forum.

The Suns have been marginally better on the road with a 15-10 record compared to 14-11 at the Footprint Center.

Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo is ranked second in the league behind only Luka Doncic with 31.3 PPG, with Phoenix's Kevin Durant fourth with 28.3.

The Suns' Grayson Allen leads the NBA with a 49.1 three-point percentage, with teammate Durant third with 46.3.

Phoenix spots up to shoot 26.5 percent of the time, third-most in the league. The Bucks have a much more balanced approach as they are not in the top five in frequency of any particular play type, but that is also likely an indicator in the change in styles the team is undergoing as it adjusts to new coach Doc Rivers.
