It has been a nightmare start to the new NBA season for the Philadelphia 76ers, who currently have the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

Los Angeles Lakers -9.5 (+120)

A lot of the focus on the Lakers has surrounded the now famous father and son partnership, with Lebron and Bronny James having made history.

But the real story should be the form of Anthony Davis, with the nine-time All Star leading the league in points per game.

The 31-year-old has averaged 32.6 points in seven games this season, amassing 38 points in the 131-125 win over the Toronto Raptors at the start of November.

Davis missed the 17-point defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies with a foot problem, but the Lakers are optimistic that he will feature against the 76ers on Friday.

LeBron has also shouldered his fair share, averaging 24.0 points in the eight Lakers games to date, with JJ Redick’s roster currently .500.

Tyrese Maxey (10th) is the only Sixer in the top 50 of the points chart, having averaged 27.6 per game but shooting just 40.6 percent from the floor, and his team is currently enduring a four-game losing streak.

The 76ers’ only win to date came against Eastern Conference rivals the Indiana Pacers, which was also the only time this season that they have scored more than 116 points in a game.

In fact, they have failed to reach three figures in two of their opening seven games – scoring 95 in defeat to the Pistons and 98 against the Clippers last time out.

The visitors have had their injury problems already this season and they will be badly hampered again by absentees on Friday.

Joel Embiid and Paul George have been missing for most of the season to date and although George should play some part in California, Embiid remains on the sidelines.

To further unsettle the East’s last-placed team, point guard Maxey is also set to miss the Lakers clash. Reports claim the 24-year-old is likely to be missing for two weeks due to a hamstring issue, which makes things even easier for LA.

LeBron James 25+ Points (+110)

The 76ers have had the edge in the head-to-head meetings in recent years, winning seven of the last eight games between these two teams.

The most recent victory though went to the Lakers in March this year, with a 101-94 win at the Crypto.com Arena.

Davis once again led LA in scoring, contributing 23 points and claiming 19 rebounds, while LeBron dished out six assists.

With game time potentially limited for Davis, ‘King James’ should see more of the ball and therefore should play a big part in a likely Lakers win.
