Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Los Angeles Clippers: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Thanks to their magnificent 58-12 record, the Oklahoma City Thunder have already secured their title as the number one seed in the West and their next game could provide a preview of their first-round matchup in the postseason. 

The Los Angeles Clippers are currently seventh in the West, meaning they are on track for a spot in the play-in tournament. Depending on how that goes, should they get there, they could come up against the Thunder in the first round of the playoffs next month. 

With that in mind, the Clippers will be keen to lay down a marker against the West’s best side on Sunday night and there is reason to believe the hosts can keep things close when OKC visit LA.

Los Angeles Clippers +3.0 (-110)

The Thunder remain the team to beat in the West, going 9-1 over their last 10 games and showing no real signs of slowing down, but the Clippers have also been going great guns of late and there is a good chance they can keep things close against the Western Conference leaders. 

The hosts have won eight of their last 10 games and come into this game following convincing victories over two of this season’s standout sides, the Cleveland Cavaliers (132-119) and the Memphis Grizzlies (128-108). 

Notably, Ty Lue’s team have been outstanding at home this term, winning 25 of their 35 matches at the Intuit Dome, and a fired-up LA crowd should spur them on to a strong performance against the Thunder, who also have far more fitness concerns than their hosts. 

Mark Daigneault will have to do without Jalen Williams in LA and OKC’s best perimeter defender, Lu Dort, is also nursing an injury. The Clippers, meanwhile, have a fully healthy roster, meaning James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Ivica Zubac and Norman Powell should combine to help LA cover a +3.0 line for the 10th time in 11 games. 

James Harden over 21.5 points (-110)

Having received plenty of flak over the past couple of seasons, Harden has taken big strides in silencing his critics this term, being the Clippers leading light in a campaign many expected them to falter in. 

Lue’s men were fancied to struggle prior to the season’s start but, led by Harden’s solid 22.6 points-per-game average, they have outperformed their odds. 

The Clippers guard has put up at least 22 points in nine straight games - he kicked off that run with a stunning 50-point haul against the Detroit Pistons - and a line of 21.5 looks achievable, especially as the Thunder may be without Dort, who would have been tasked with keeping tabs on The Beard in LA. 

James Harden double double (+105)

Not only has Harden been a constant source of points for the Clippers, he has also been their chief playmaker this season, averaging 8.7 assists per game - the fifth-most in the NBA. 

With OKC’s spot in first in the Western Conference already secured, they may take their foot off the gas a touch in LA, potentially allowing Harden to dominate the box score in two statistics on Sunday. 

The Clippers star has registered a double double in four of his last seven matches - he was one assist off a double double in two other games in that run - and, at big odds, he is a tempting bet to notch another.
