Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The best team in the Western Conference will face the best team in the Eastern Conference tonight as part of an eight-game Wednesday night slate in the Association.

The Oklahoma City Thunder (30-5) will travel to Ohio for a highly-anticipated matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers (31-4). Both teams have been in sole possession of the top spot in their respective conference for quite some time now and neither squad has lost a game in weeks.

OKC comes into this game on a 15-game win streak while the Cavaliers own the second-longest win streak in the league at 10 games.

One of these dominant teams will have to lose, so let's preview this exciting matchup with our expert's best bets.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Cleveland Cavaliers betting picks and predictions

Thunder +2.5 (-110)

Oklahoma City is coming off a big win against the reigning NBA Champion Boston Celtics. Last Sunday, the Thunder and Celtics tipped off and Boston jumped out to a big lead. OKC's elite defense was getting battered by the Celtics' elite perimeter shooting and Boston had 65 points in the first half.

However, the Thunder were on the right side of some luck as Boston couldn't find the bottom of the basket in the second half, as they finished with just 27 points in the final 24 minutes. The Thunder won 105-92 which extended their win streak to an NBA-best 15 games.

The last few weeks have been far from a cakewalk for the Thunder considering their last five wins have come against the Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Memphis Grizzlies. OKC's elite defense has suffocated some of the best offenses in the league, and it improved their defensive rating to 102.7, which is by far the best in the category.

It's been the addition of Isaiah Hartenstein in the paint that has really changed everything for the Thunder since they already had elite athletic guards like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams. The Thunder have built something very special in OKC.

Meanwhile, the best record in all of basketball belongs to the Cavaliers. At 31-4, the Cavs have jumped out to one of the best starts in franchise history. Cleveland has already defeated some of the top teams in the league like the Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks, Knicks, and Los Angeles Lakers.

The main reason for their success? Their offense. While the Thunder rank first in defensive rating, the Cavaliers rank first in offensive rating. Cleveland also ranks first in effective field goal percentage and true shooting percentage, which proves that their elite offensive start hasn't been a fluke.

The Cavs come into this game as winners of 10 games in a row and their last loss happened exactly one month ago on December 8. In the month since that loss, the Cavaliers have looked unstoppable. Their lineup has remained healthy, and the team's chemistry is off the charts.

Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland have been elite on the perimeter and the duo of Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley in the paint has made it extremely hard for other teams to crash the boards. However, those two will have their hands full with Hartenstein tonight.

This game should be extremely close, but it's hard to pass up the points with OKC as underdogs.

Over 230.5 Total Points (-110)

In a matchup between the best teams the NBA has to offer, lean towards the Over.

The Cavaliers' offense has been incredibly efficient this season as they average over 122 points per game, and they have scored at least 113 points in 14 consecutive games.

It's rare to see Cleveland score less than 110 points in a game - the last time that happened was on November 29. During their 10-game win streak, the Cavaliers have averaged 125.2 points per game and multiple top-10 defenses weren't able to contain the Cavs.

This contest will be their hardest test of the campaign since the Thunder own the best defense in the league, but it's safe to assume that the Cavs will be able to continue their streak of scoring at least 113 points. If that happens, this game has a great chance to hit the Over.

In Cleveland's 35 games this season, 23 have seen the Over cash. The Cavs have been extremely profitable on the Over for bettors and we're sticking with that trend.

That's because the Cavs should be able to score their usual amount of points, and the Thunder offense should be able to take advantage of Cleveland's weak perimeter defense to see the Over hit in this potential NBA Finals preview.
