Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Boston Celtics: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder, winners of seven of their last eight, travel to Boston to take on the Celtics on Wednesday at 7:30 PM ET.

The Thunder are 53-12 overall with a stellar 24-7 road record, while the Celtics, sitting second in the East, are 47-18 overall and 23-11 at home.

Wednesday’s matchup concludes a seven-game homestand for Boston, who have won five straight. Another success would give the Celtics victories over the Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets, the Western Conference’s top three teams, during this homestand.

Oklahoma City is coming into this contest on the heels of a 140-127 loss to the Nuggets at home Monday night, while the Celtics held off the visiting Utah Jazz last time out.

This is the second and final meeting between the two teams this season. Oklahoma City took a 105-92 decision at home in early January.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Boston Celtics betting picks and predictions

Oklahoma City Thunder +3.0 (-110)

Both teams are primed for deep postseason runs. Boston has won five straight and 15 of its last 18 games, while Oklahoma City has taken seven of its last eight contests and won 16 of its last 19 overall.

The Thunder held Boston to a season-low 27 first-half points in that January victory. The win set an Oklahoma City franchise record with its 15th straight win.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 33 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in the win, while Jayson Tatum had 26 points and 10 rebounds. The Celtics, sixth in the league in three-point shooting at 37.1 percent, shot just 19.5 percent (9/46) in that contest.

However, Boston is finally turning TD Garden back into the fortress it was last year, when the team went 37-4 at home in the regular season.

The Celtics are just 23-11 there this year, but they have won five straight and 8 of their last 10 at home. Boston is just 30-35 against the spread this season, including 15-19 ATS at home, but the team has gone 4-1 ATS during this five-game home winning streak.

Oklahoma City is 40-25-1 against the spread this season, and 18-13 ATS on the road. The Thunder have won six straight away games and are 7-1 ATS in their last eight matchups with Boston, so back the visitors on the spread.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 32.5 points (-120)

Gilgeous-Alexander, a three-time All-Star, has finished in the top five in the MVP race each of the past two seasons. He was runner-up to Nikola Jokic last season and he’s making a push to take the award this year.

Gilgeous-Alexander’s leading the league in scoring, and he has raised his level since the All-Star break, averaging 34.3 points in his last 10 games and 37.6 in his last five.

He has scored 40 or more points in three of his last four contests, including 51 in a win over the Houston Rockets.

After scoring 33 points against the Celtics in their previous matchup, and with Oklahoma City’s second-leading scorer, Jalen Williams, sidelined with a hip injury, look for Gilgeous-Alexander to again tally Over 32.5 points tonight.

Over 228.5 Total Points (-115)

These two teams have played to the Over seven times in their past eight contests.

Oklahoma City has played to the Over eight times in its last 11 games and is third in the league in scoring, averaging nearly 120 points per contest, while the Celtics are putting up nearly 117 per contest.

The last time these two teams played was an anomaly. Look for the Thunder and Celtics to total Over 228.5 points.
