New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers Game 6: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Philadelphia 76ers kept their season alive in Game 5, and they head back to the Wells Fargo Center to face the New York Knicks in Game 6 of their first-round series.

This topsy-turvy series may not be over just yet and with the score at 3-2 in New York’s favor, Philly must take this win-or-go-home clash to force another trip to MSG for Game 7.

The Knicks want to wrap this series up early and get some extra rest ahead of a Conference Semifinals series against either the Milwaukee Bucks or Indiana Pacers, but they may fall short in their efforts to do so in Thursday's game.

New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers Game 6 betting picks and predictions

Philadelphia 76ers -3.5 (-110)

It was a nervy final 30 seconds of regulation time for Philly fans as they trailed 96-90 in Game 5 with half a minute remaining before a couple of huge Tyrese Maxey shots got them to overtime, where they eventually won to force a sixth game of the series.

Things may be more comfortable for the 76ers in Game 6 with home advantage and New York likely to be fatigued after a taxing Game 5. The Knicks will be battered both mentally and physically after their gruelling MSG loss and it could show in Philadelphia.

Throwing away a comfortable lead so late and then ultimately losing in overtime is sure to have affected New York’s players and they may be lacking their usual spring.

Along with that mental fatigue, they will be feeling the effects of that loss physically, too. Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and OG Anunoby all played over 50 minutes in that clash as Tom Thibodeau opted for just a seven-man rotation.

That trio will no doubt be feeling tired and given Thibodeau’s defensive methods rely heavily on effort and determination, their usual tactics may be ineffective against Philly, who could outshoot their opponents with ease.

The Knicks have shot less than 30 percent from beyond the arc in the past two games while the 76ers made 39 percent of their three-pointers in Game 5. With Philly capable of racking up the points from deep and New York unable to put their usual pressure on the 76ers’ shooters, things could get ugly for the Knicks.

The 76ers can see off their opponents at the Wells Fargo Center and force a decisive Game 7 back at MSG.

Tobias Harris Over 1.5 three-pointers (+115)

Maxey was undoubtedly the 76ers’ hero in game five, but another big story to unfold that night was the rest of Philly’s roster finally stepping up when it mattered most.

Nick Nurse’s team has been reliant on Joel Embiid and Maxey for the majority of this series, but the likes of Nicolas Batum and Tobias Harris had their best games at MSG on Tuesday and could build on that on Thursday.

Harris had been averaging just 8.8 points per game in the series prior to Tuesday but dropped 19 in that game and shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, knocking down three of his six three-pointers at MSG.

Between 2017 and 2022 Harris made over two three-pointers a game in his clashes with New York and, while his talents have been on the wane a bit recently, the signs on Tuesday were positive that he could help the 76ers force a Game 7 with some more excellent shooting.

New York’s focus will, understandably, be on Maxey following his exploits on Tuesday which saw him make seven three-pointers, meaning space could open up for the likes of Harris to get open looks from deep, with the Philly forward fancied to knock down Over 1.5 at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.

Jalen Brunson 35 points milestone (+105)

If New York are to wrap this series up in six games, they will need star guard Brunson to be at his best in Philly. Luckily for Knicks fans, Brunson has proven his worth as a postseason performer on plenty of occasions already in this series.

Brunson leads all players in the playoffs in points per game with 34.4 - exactly two more than his series rival Maxey. His scoring power is frightening and he is one of few players in the NBA with the rare talent to silence hostile crowds with huge plays.

Brunson’s points average at home in this series is 28.6, but that rises to a ludicrous 43 when he has played in Philadelphia. With this game taking place at the Wells Fargo Center and plenty on the line for the Knicks, he could step up again.

The guard’s points line is 33.5 but he could go way over that, just as he has in the last three games of this series, so backing him to notch at least 35 at bigger odds could be a profitable play.
