Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Oklahoma City Thunder have strengthened their position at the top of the Western Conference by winning nine of their last 10 games and will look to secure another big win on Monday night when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Mark Daigneault’s men sit atop of the West with a 46-10 record after a victory over the Timberwolves on Sunday, and neither team had time to dwell on that result before hostilities are renewed Monday night.

This time the pair battle in OKC and the hosts will expect to rack up another W, with the Timberwolves going into this matchup having slipped to four defeats in their last five games.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Oklahoma City Thunder betting picks and predictions

Oklahoma City Thunder -12.0 (-110)

It’s nine wins in the last 10 games for the Thunder – the one defeat was at the hands of the Timberwolves on February 13 – as they return to their home court, taking on a Minnesota team that has slipped to seventh in the West.

The Thunder have lost just three of their 28 games at the Paycom Center and with 26 regular season games remaining, they will want to establish themselves as the team to beat ahead of the playoffs.

OKC is currently the fourth highest-scoring team in the league, averaging 118.3 points per game while shooting 47.6 percent overall.

Key rotation players are also starting to return from injury, with Ousmane Dieng and Alex Caruso back on the court after recent injury problems.

Dieng missed five games in the run-up to All-Star Weekend but returned for a short spell in Saturday’s 130-107 win over the Utah Jazz. Meanwhile, Caruso has had issues with his left hip but managed 24 minutes in the win in Minnesota.

The Timberwolves are 16 games behind their opponents and head to Oklahoma having lost six of their last 10 matchups.

Minnesota have relied heavily on Anthony Edwards. The three-time NBA All-Star averages 27.7 points and has featured in 56 of their 58 games.

Experienced center Rudy Gobert has been a big miss, with the Frenchman expected to be sidelined again on Monday due to back spasms.

The head-to-head stats also point to the hosts, with the Thunder winning two of the previous three meetings this season – including a 113-105 success at the Paycom Center in December. Expect a similar result here in which the Thunder cover the -12.0 spread.

Oklahoma City Thunder to score 120 points (-115)

The points have been flowing for OKC in recent weeks, with Daigneault’s squad scoring 125 or more in seven of their last 10 games.

The Thunder have scored 130 points in back-to-back matchups and currently lead the league in steals per game (10.9) and free throw percentage (82.3 percent).

It’s also worth noting that the Timberwolves have conceded 120+ points in three of their last five games.

Two of those were on the road in defeats to Houston and Cleveland, with the Rockets scoring 121 and the Cavaliers firing 128 points.

1st Quarter Spread: Oklahoma City Thunder -4.0 (-115)

Oklahoma’s recent wins have been built around fast starts, with OKC leading after the first quarter in eight of their last 10 games. And in seven of those eight recent games in which OKC has led after the first frame, they scored 30+ first-quarter points.

The Thunder were eight points ahead going into the second quarter in Sunday’s win over the Timberwolves, racking up 35 points in the opening 12 minutes.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been the key to the Thunder’s success this season, with the point guard leading the league in points per game.

The Canadian claimed 38 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in Sunday’s matchup in Minnesota and fired 40 when the teams last met in Oklahoma.
