Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets Game 7: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

This has been an incredible series so far, with the Minnesota Timberwolves dominating Game 6 after three consecutive losses to the Denver Nuggets left them on the brink of elimination. While there have been plenty of twists and turns, we’re yet to see a truly close game between the two sides.

They meet for a win-or-go-home Game 7 clash in Denver on Sunday night and it’s hard to see another blowout for either side. The Timberwolves have proven themselves against the defending champions and both are genuine title contenders, but it will be the end of the road for one of them this weekend.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets Game 7 betting picks and predictions

Minnesota Timberwolves +5 (-110)

The first four games in this series were won by the away team, before the two sides both successfully defended home court in the last two. The Nuggets won by 15 points in Game 5, which has seen them installed as -210 favorites for this clash. However, it’s hard to see Minnesota allowing themselves to be blown away in Game 7.

The Timberwolves put on a defensive masterclass last time out, holding the Nuggets and MVP Nikola Jokic to just 70 points. Their visits to Denver in Games 1 and 2 saw similar stellar defending from Minnesota. We should expect more of the same from them with their postseason future on the line.

This is likely to be the closest game of the series so far, which means the Timberwolves +5 appeals. Minnesota can keep this closer than their previous visit to Denver, especially given that Mike Conley is back following their struggles without him in Game 5.

Anthony Edwards has willed wins for Minnesota throughout the postseason and he’s unlikely to shirk this big occasion, so I’m siding with the visitors.

Naz Reid Over 11.5 Total Points and Rebounds (-125)

Reid won Sixth Man of the Year and his impact off the bench in this series has been vital. Reid has scored 37 points across the three games played in Denver, while he was big on the boards in Game 6, grabbing 11 rebounds to help Minnesota to victory.

Reid is a reluctant assister, but he’s taken a minimum of six shots per game in this series. He’s had plenty of looks in the games played in Colorado, especially given how the Denver defense works to get Edwards double-teamed and off the ball. Reid has stepped in when called upon, while he’s a physical defender who will continue to be an effective rebounder. With that in mind, back him to top a combined 11 points and rebounds.

Mike Conley Over 19.5 Points, Assists and Rebounds (-110)

When Edwards was asked how the Timberwolves went from a 112-97 loss in Game 5 to a 115-70 win in Game 6, his answer was simple, “We got Mike Conley back”.

Conley may be an afterthought behind the likes of Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert, but he sets the table for them in brilliant fashion.

With Conley out in Game 5, the Nuggets got a lot out of pressurising Edwards to get him off the ball. With an experienced point guard out there, Edwards simply hands the ball off and lets Conley get to work.

Conley posted an impressive 10 assists in the Game 1 victory in Denver, while he had 13 points and five assists in Game 6. He’s also chipped in with 19 defensive boards across his five appearances, so he’s effective across the court.

Conley is the experienced old head Minnesota needs in a high-stakes game like this. Back him to better a combined 20 points, rebounds and assists.
