Los Angeles Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

We are coming down the home stretch of the NBA regular season, and there is a sizable nine-game slate on Wednesday night capped off by a showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings.

This is a crucial contest in the Western Conference, as the Lakers are battling for play-in tournament position while the Kings try to secure a top-six spot in the standings and go straight to the conference quarterfinals.

Los Angeles has won two games in a row but will have its work cut out for it having to pay a visit to the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings betting picks and predictions

Lakers -2

First, let’s get this out of the way: Los Angeles simply has not been able to figure out Sacramento this season. The Lakers lost three previous meetings this season by five, 15 and 10 points.

The good news for LeBron James and company, however, is that they should be able to avoid a regular-season sweep.

For starters, the Kings are playing the second leg of a back-to-back situation. In their two most recent second games of back-to-backs, they lost to the Miami Heat by 11 points and beat the lowly San Antonio Spurs by two (both at home).

Meanwhile, Anthony Davis has been hot of late. He is averaging 24.1 points and 14.1 rebounds over the last 10 games.

Thanks in part to Davis, L.A. is 3-1 in its last four and 5-2 in its last seven – with wins during this stretch over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder and Milwaukee Bucks.

Over 238

The over is 2-1 in head-to-head encounters between Los Angeles and Sacramento during the 2023-24 campaign. Their games are averaging 248 points.

Both teams rely significantly more on scoring than defense to win games. That is clear from the Lakers’ and Kings’ respective defensive ratings of 17th and 20th.

Likely playing on tired legs won’t help the home team’s defensive cause, either. Look for L.A. to push the pace and ride James, Davis and Austin Reaves to some serious point production.

Rui Hachimura Over 1.5 threes made

Hachimura should be in line for a big performance on Wednesday, especially from the perimeter.

The Lakers and Kings just went head-to-head last Wednesday and the Gonzaga product went for 29 points on 13-of-17 shooting from the floor (3-of-5 from three-point range).

Hachimura is 6-of-10 from downtown in three meetings with Sacramento this season. It’s also worth noting that the 25-year-old has made three triples in three of his last five outings overall.

Look for him to make at least two against a Sacramento squad that is second-to-last in the NBA this season in opponent three-point shooting percentage (39.4).
