Los Angeles Clippers vs. Milwaukee Bucks: Picks, predictions, odds and player props

We are coming down the home stretch of the NBA regular season and the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers highlight a six-game slate on Monday night.

It includes a double-header on NBA TV that begins with the Los Angeles Clippers visiting the Milwaukee Bucks before the Los Angeles Lakers host the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Clippers vs. Bucks is an especially intriguing matchup because it is a potential NBA Finals preview and it pits Milwaukee head coach Doc Rivers against one of his former teams.

The Clippers are currently fourth in the Western Conference but only 2.5 games out of first, while the Bucks find themselves in second place in the East.

With the game tipping off at 8:00 PM ET, it’s time to break down the betting odds and make our best bets.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Milwaukee Bucks betting picks and predictions

Los Angeles Clippers +5.0 (-110)

Both teams are playing great defense at the moment and you have to think a matchup of this magnitude will inspire both teams to put forth a max effort even though it is a regular-season game. As a result, it could be a low-scoring affair – and in such a situation getting five points could really come in handy.

Los Angeles should be able to cover that number, or even win outright. The Clippers have won two in a row (including an impressive, low-scoring victory at Minnesota on Sunday) and they have lost only once on the road since January 29 (to Oklahoma City, one of the best teams in the league).

They have lost just twice on the road since January 14. Everyone on L.A.’s roster except for Russell Westbrook is in good health, so this team should be fine physically despite playing the second leg of a back-to-back situation on Monday.

Milwaukee, on the other hand, is without Khris Middleton (ankle). Giannis Antetokoumpo (Achilles tendonitis) is questionable.

It’s too risky to back the Bucks until Antetokounmpo’s status is confirmed, and even if he does play, it feels like Los Angeles plus the points is the better bet.

Under 227.5 (-110)

As mentioned above, a commitment to defense should keep this game under the total.

Rivers was brought in to revitalize Milwaukee’s defense. There were some growing pains in that effort, but it’s safe to say the Bucks have absolutely bought into what their new head coach is preaching.

They have held four consecutive opponents to under 100 points, and they have accomplished that feat on six occasions in their last nine games.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles ranks ninth overall in the association in scoring defense at 112.5 points per game allowed for the season.

To say that the Clippers won thanks to their defense on Sunday would be a gross understatement, as they defeated Minnesota 89-88 in a rare case in today's NBA of neither team beating 90 points.

With Middleton sidelined and Antetokounmpo perhaps not 100 percent, L.A. should be in line for another stout defensive performance in this one.

James Harden Over 2.5 three-pointers made (-120)

Harden was a disastrous 0-for-10 from the field on Sunday, but he has either done a nice job of bouncing back from stinker or has at least been committed to finding his offensive game the next time out.

On February 23 he went 1-for-8 from the floor against Memphis and then two days later he forked up 10 three-pointers and scored 20 points against Sacramento. On February 2 he was 1-for-10 shooting against Detroit; two days later he went 5-for-9 from deep and pinned 21 points on Miami.

Harden has attempted 10, nine, nine and six three-pointers over the last four contests. He has made at least three triples in seven of the last 12. Look for him to make at least three against Milwaukee.
