Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks Game 1: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Read the latest betting picks, predictions, odds and player props for Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks Game 1 in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

The Knicks are in the second round of the playoffs for just the third time since 2000, while the Pacers are back for the first time since 2014, the days of Paul George and Roy Hibbert.

New York will host Games 1 & 2 before the series shifts to Indianapolis.

Let's take a look at our expert picks and predictions for Monday night's Game 1.

Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks betting picks and predictions

New York Knicks -6 (-110)

The New York Knicks have a great chance to play in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 24 years as they host the Indiana Pacers to start their seven-game series on Monday.

These teams are currently sixth and seventh in the NBA championship odds but one of them will reach the final four and the home side should at least be able to get off to a fast start by winning Game 1.

The Pacers have already upset the rankings once as the sixth seeds beat the third-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs but that hardly tells the whole story as the Bucks were missing their star man Giannis Antetokounmpo for the entire series.

Indiana performed superbly to get the job done regardless of who was on the court for the other team and they did it relatively comfortably too, winning in six games.

It is worth noting, however, that the Pacers suffered a heavy loss in Game 1 of that series, losing 109-94 after trailing 69-42 at the end of the first half and it may take them time to work their way into this series too, if they can at all.

The Knicks went 27-14 at home in the regular season while the Pacers were only just above .500 on the road with a 21-20 record.

New York has not lost at home in regulation in any of its last six games at Madison Square Garden as the Game 6 home loss to the Sixers was sustained in overtime.

The Knicks got off to a fast start in their first playoff series with a 111-104 home success against Philadelphia and they should be able to grab the initiative in this one at MSG too.

Over 217.5 points (-110)

The Pacers stepping on a court is usually a recipe for a high-scoring game and nine of their last 11 contests have gone over the expected total points line. That includes a 4-2 over/under record against Milwaukee in the first round of the playoffs when the Bucks were without their top two scorers from the regular season.

Totals for their games this season have been set as high as the 260s and they have still been able to pile up the points - their final regular-season match-up against the Hawks had a high line at 241.5 and they smashed that in a 157-115 victory.

Only one of the Pacers' games in the first round came up short of 217 total points and the total had not dipped below that number for a further eight games before that.

Knicks games this season have not been quite so wild but a majority of their regular-season match-ups went over this number and while bettors must allow for teams paying more attention to defense now the playoffs have come around, the situation should not deter these teams from getting the ball through the hoop.

Their combined games have averaged 236.1 points, so there is plenty of scope for defenses to tighten up and the over to still hit.

The Pacers have prospered when they have played fast this season and they are not likely to change the style that has been working so well.

Tyrese Haliburton over 9.5 assists (-110)

Tyrese Haliburton has been one of the stars for the Pacers in their first play-off campaign for four years and he needs to maintain his fine form for his team to have a chance of upsetting the Knicks.

Haliburton leads Indiana in assists and usage rate and without him they are not a daily threat to post a three-digit total.

Haliburton's average of 9.3 assists per game in the first round was almost twice the tally of any of his team-mates and it was brought down by an unexpectedly poor return of only four assists in Game 5.

He had 12 assists in Game 2, a monstrous 16 in Game 3 and 10 as he wrapped up his team's first play-off series win for 10 years in Game 6. He should be capable of reaching double digits in dimes again.
