Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks Game 5: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks will take place on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden in New York. It is a win-or-go-home situation for the Knicks, as the seven-game set stands at 3-1 in the Pacers’ favor.

New York lost each of the first two contests in its own building, so it must turn the tide if it wants to send the series back to Indiana for Game 6.

With tipoff set for 8 PM ET on TNT, it’s time to break down the matchup and discuss the best bets to make.

Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks Game 5 betting picks and predictions

Indiana Pacers +4.0 (-105)

This series is by no means over, but a sample size of four games is enough to confirm that Indiana is the better team. The Pacers have lost only once, and that was when they squandered a 20-point lead at home – including a 16-pont advantage midway through the third quarter.

Seemingly on their way to a borderline insurmountable 3-0 series lead, they took their foot off the gas pedal with the NBA Finals in sight.

Indiana made no such mistake in front of the home crowd on Tuesday and restored order to the proceedings with a 130-121 victory.

Now, head coach Rick Carlisle’s club takes to the road as a 4-point underdog. That feels like too many points to give when the visitors boast an incredible 6-1 road record during these playoffs. That features an almost hard-to-believe 3-0 road mark in round one against the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers.

Meanwhile, the Knicks have curiously been futile inside MSG – with a 3-5 playoff record in front of their home fans.

The Pacers are simply in dominant form offensively. Five guys are averaging at least 13.2 points per game during the playoffs. They probably have too much firepower to lose by more than four points on Thursday – and they have a good chance to win outright.

Over 223.5 (-110)

These two longtime rivals have generally played high-scoring games against each other during the 2024/25 campaign. In the regular season they squared off three times, producing 221, 253 and 243 points. So far in this series the totals have been 273 (in overtime), 223, 206 and 251.

With only a couple of exceptions, the theme of this rivalry has been entertaining shootouts. Indiana played at the sixth-fastest pace during the regular season (103.8 possessions per game) and it has been the team controlling the tempo in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Knicks don’t like to play as fast, but it’s safe to say they don’t have much of a choice. If they were going to be able to slow things down, they would have done so earlier in the series. If New York wants to advance – or even stay alive for a Game 6 – it will have to beat Indiana at its own game.

All things considered, the over looks like the right bet.

OG Anunoby over 16.5 points (-115)

With Karl-Anthony Towns likely less than 100 percent due to a knee issue, Jalen Brunson is probably going to need some considerable help from one of his other sidekicks. Anunoby should be up to the task.

The Indiana product has scored at least 16 points in every game this series and is coming off a 22-point performance on Thursday. He delivered at least 20 points in two of the last three games against Boston in the Eastern Conference semis.

Anunoby also went for 19 points or more in four of the six games against Detroit in round one. He is rolling in the playoffs and that should continue in an elimination spot, as head coach Tom Thibodeau will be giving his best players as much court time as possible.
