Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks Game 2: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The New York Knicks stormed to a 1-0 lead in their second-round series against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night with a 121-117 victory at a packed-out Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks are favorites to make it two wins from two when they face off with the Pacers for Game 2 on Wednesday night as they retain home-court advantage. Indy might have learned from its blown fourth-quarter lead on Monday, and they could fare better ahead of back-to-back games in Indianapolis.

Let's get into the picks and predictions ahead of this crucial playoff matchup.

Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks Game 2 betting picks and predictions

Indiana Pacers +5.0 (-110)

The Pacers led in Game 1 until the fourth quarter, when a disappointing collapse saw them outscored 39-30 in the final frame. However, there is every chance they would have learned from those mistakes and should keep things tight against New York this time around, with a win not beyond their reach.

A +5.0 spread looks generous for Indy considering they covered that in Game 1. The raucous nature of MSG can be enough to settle even the most star-studded teams, let alone one as young as Indiana’s, so they should fare better having experienced the atmosphere once already.

Tyrese Haliburton will be key to any success Indiana gets in this series and after a disappointing first game, he could be ready to set MSG alight. Haliburton managed just six points on Monday, 14 below his regular-season average, and a performance that disappointing is unlikely to strike twice in a matter of days for one of the NBA’s best guards.

Indiana won two of the regular-season meetings between the teams, and given the loss in that three-game series came by just four points, they look a solid bet to cover a +5.0 line against the Knicks again.

Josh Hart over 16.5 points (-115)

Jalen Brunson was, as he usually is, the star of the show at MSG on Monday, scoring a huge 43 points, including a ludicrous 21 in the final quarter to lead the Knicks to a comeback victory and 1-0 lead in the series. He's averaging 36.6 points per game in these playoffs, but he has somewhat taken the shine off his teammates.

One Knick who has enjoyed an excellent but underrated postseason is Josh Hart, whose game has reached a new level in the playoffs. Hart averaged 9.4 points per game in the regular season but he has increased that to 17.8 in the playoffs, suggesting he could have a big say on proceedings on Wednesday.

The Knicks forward has excelled at MSG in particular, scoring 22, 21, 18 and 24 in his four playoff home games at the Garden this season, hinting that he should hit his line of 16.5 against the Pacers in the second clash of the series. Plus, he rarely comes out of games, which gives him plenty of scoring opportunities.

Tyrese Haliburton 10 Assists Milestone (+115)

Haliburton did not find much joy against the Knicks in Game 1. However, he was still effective in his pass selection, registering a respectable eight assists on Monday night, and in reality, that performance was a bit of an anomaly.

He had scored at least 15 points in each of his previous five meetings with New York since arriving in Indiana and has averaged an impressive 11.4 assists in those games. Furthermore, Haliburton averaged a league-high 10.9 assists per game in the regular season and has managed at least 10 in three of his last six playoff contests.

Haliburton is an excellent playmaker and he will be keen to prove that on Wednesday. OG Anunoby is one of the NBA’s best perimeter defenders but while he may be able to prevent the Pacers’ main man from getting up shots, stopping him from creating for his teammates is another task altogether.

Back Haliburton to bounce back in Game 2 and put on a creative clinic at MSG.
