In-Season Tournament preview: Knicks host Heat in 10-game slate

The NBA's inaugural In-Season Tournament concludes its third week of action with 10 games on Black Friday.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers became the first teams to advance to the In-Season Tournament quarterfinals with wins on Tuesday. Both teams top their respective groups with 3-0 records.

On Friday, the Miami Heat and New York Knicks meet for the first time since last year's playoffs with a spot in the knockout round on the line, while rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama faces off against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors for the first time ever.

Nuggets to reverse Rockets result?

The reigning NBA champions, Denver Nuggets, suffered a shock defeat in Houston recently and will be looking to reverse that result as they take on the Rockets again on Friday.

The Nuggets lost 107-104 that day despite 36 points and 21 rebounds from their Serbian star Nikola Jokic and there is the feeling that too much is being asked of their center in Jamal Murray’s absence, with the likes of Michael Porter Jr yet to step up.

However, they should still be too strong for the Rockets, who the Nuggets have beaten 10 times in their last 12 meetings, as the champions will only improve as the season goes on just as they did in the previous campaign.

Houston had been in good form prior to back-to-back losses to the teams from LA, winning six of their eight games prior to those defeats, but could be in for a miserable Black Friday in Texas.

Warriors to add to Wembanyama woes?

The Golden State Warriors are one of the most out of form teams in the whole of the NBA, but some positive news could be on the way on Friday.

One team in worse nick is their visitors on Friday, the San Antonio Spurs, who have lost their last eight games - with number one pick Victor Wembanyama’s struggles partly to blame for that poor run.

The French forward has shot 26 per cent from three in those matches and he may continue to struggle from range against the Warriors, who will be boosted by the return of elite perimeter defender Draymond Green.

The Warriors have won their last four meetings with the Spurs and should have no issues against the West’s bottom side.
