Houston Rockets vs. Phoenix Suns: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Houston Rockets are finishing the regular season in fine form with 11 wins in their last 12 games and they continue their bid to secure the second seed for the Western Conference playoffs when they visit the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night.

The Suns are currently outside of even the play-in positions, 11th in the Western Conference with a 35-39 record after losing their last two games.

They have lost both of their meetings with the Rockets this season, extending their losing streak against the Texan team to three.

Houston Rockets vs. Phoenix Suns betting picks and predictions

Houston Rockets -2.0 (-105)

The Rockets are firing on all cylinders and they have an excellent chance of completing a regular-season sweep over the Suns, and covering the spread in the process.

Ime Udoka’s team have been making relentless progress in recent weeks and while they are still 14 games back of runaway conference leaders the Oklahoma City Thunder - who have already clinched the first seed, the Rockets remain at the front of the pack behind them.

Houston (48-26) has only a 1.5-game lead over the 47-28 Denver Nuggets after losing 116-111 to the Colorado club last Sunday night in their only defeat in their last dozen contests.

The Rockets have since beaten the Atlanta Hawks by seven points on Tuesday and then won by 11 on the road in Utah on Thursday and they are in formidable form.

Houston has won and covered the spread in four of the teams' last five meetings and can overcome the small handicap in this contest to keep the Nuggets at bay.

The Suns were going well and won four straight games, including a notable 123-112 over the Cleveland Cavaliers last week, but they have suffered heavy losses to the Boston Celtics and the Minnesota Timberwolves in their last two outings, losing by 30 and 15 points.

Those are both strong and in-form teams but their schedule doesn't relent yet and they face another stern test when the Rockets come to town.

The Suns have won six of their last seven at home but they have covered the spread in only 14 of their 37 home games.

The Rockets were comfortable in both of their wins over the Suns this season, winning 119-111 and 111-104 and they should come out on top again.

Alperen Sengun over 20.5 points (-125)

Turkish center Alperen Sengun starred in the Rockets' 121-110 victory over the Jazz on Thursday night with 33 points, converting 11 of his 19 two-point attempts and draining 11 of his 13 free throws.

That was his highest-scoring game since he had 38 against the Timberwolves in December but - he is averaging 20.1 per outing for the season - can pass his total against the Suns.

The hosts have had problems defending against big men all season and may not enjoy facing the 6ft 11in star who is in fine form.

Sengun scored 20 points in the teams' most recent meeting and 17 in the first match-up between the teams this year when he uncharacteristically made only three of his six free throws.

Devin Booker under 24.5 points (-115)

Devin Booker is second only to Kevin Durant in the Suns’ scoring charts this season but he is going through a rough patch of form and could struggle to reach 25 points against the Rockets.

Booker had a terrible game against the Timberwolves, failing to score in the first half and finishing with only 10 points despite being on the court for 39 minutes. He made only four of 14 from two-point range and missed all six of his three-point attempts.

Booker went for 41 points against the Bulls 10 days ago but has since posted just 17, 19, 14 and 10 points in his last four games,

He managed only 19 points in his last game against the Rockets and could be kept relatively quiet again.
