Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Golden State Warriors are 16-15, good for 10th in the Western Conference, and they face a visit from the NBA-best Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night.

The Warriors’ record pales in comparison to the Cavs’ stunning 27-4 start to the campaign and it is hard to look beyond an away win in San Francisco.

The spread looks generous and Kenny Atkinson’s Cavaliers should have far too much for Steve Kerr’s Warriors at the Chase Center on Monday.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors betting picks and predictions

Cleveland Cavaliers -4.5 (-110)

Given the Cavaliers are 11 wins better off than their hosts, a spread of -4.5 looks extremely generous for this clash with Cleveland set to put on a show in San Francisco.

The Eastern Conference leaders have covered that line in each of their last six games and in all of their last nine wins. In fact, the only instances in which they have won without covering that line have come against the Milwaukee Bucks (twice) and the reigning champion Boston Celtics - teams far stronger than the inconsistent Warriors.

Golden State have also failed to cover a +4.5 line in their last three meetings with the Cavs, suggesting a convincing away win is definitely on the cards.

Home advantage is unlikely to help the Warriors enough to keep things close, given the Cavaliers are 11-3 on the road. It would be no surprise to see Kerr’s men blown out, just as they were in the pair’s meeting last month which ended 136-117 in Cleveland’s favor.

Atkinson has shown his tactical versatility in recent outings, too, suggesting he can make the right adjustments to cope with the Warriors’ stars. He went small against the Utah Jazz, benching Jarrett Allen for large periods to space the floor, and went big against the Denver Nuggets to cope with Nikola Jokic.

The Cavs won by 12 and 14 points on those occasions, suggesting that no matter which route Atkinson takes at the Chase Center, his side look set to cruise to victory in California.

Evan Mobley Over 17.5 points (-115)

Draymond Green’s return, alongside Stephen Curry’s, certainly helped the Warriors get over the line against Kevin Durant and the Suns last time. But, now 34 years old, Green is beginning to lack the fitness to go at 100 percent on every single play in every single game.

He remains the Warriors’ best defender, but despite his years of experience, he is unlikely to be able to stop Evan Mobley from dominating the paint and knocking down shots.

The Cavs forward has notched at least 19 points in six of his last eight games, managing 20+ in each of his last four. The Nuggets, usually one of the NBA’s best defenses, struggled to cope with Mobley and his 26 points in Cleveland’s last game, suggesting he may run the Warriors ragged on Monday.

He has already torched the Dubs once this term, registering 23 points while making seven of his 12 shots in November’s head-to-head, and he is improving his offensive influence with every passing week.

Mobley made just 27.6 percent of his three-pointers in November but has seen that success rate rise to 55.9 this month. His ability to score in the paint and from beyond the arc makes him a real threat and a 17.5 points line looks achievable in San Francisco.

Jonathan Kuminga Over 19.5 points (-110)

Atkinson will be wary of the Warriors’ potent offensive players. His main focus will be on stopping the league’s best shooter, Curry, while he will also be considering ways to limit the impact of Andrew Wiggins.

Cleveland’s best perimeter defenders being preoccupied with that pair could see an in-form Jonathan Kuminga enjoy another big night on Monday. He registered a career-high 34 points against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday before repeating that feat against the Suns last time out.

He should continue getting valuable minutes following those performances and a line of 19.5 should be straightforward for him to clear against the Cavs, especially as he scored 21 in these teams' last head-to-head.
