The Cleveland Cavaliers have made a sensational start to the NBA season, winning their first 10 games under new head coach Kenny Atkinson.
They will be looking to keep the good times coming when they host the Brooklyn Nets at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Saturday night.
The Nets are 4-5 and have won just one of their first four road games, so the Cavs are double-digit favorites for this matchup, which sees both teams playing for the second time in as many nights.
The Cavaliers' decision to move on from head coach JB Bickerstaff despite reaching the Eastern Conference semi-finals last season already looks smart, as they have made a red-hot start to the new campaign under new man Atkinson.
Atkinson's only previous head coaching post was with Saturday's opponents, the Nets, where he had a 118-190 record from 2016 to 2020.
However, his reputation was enhanced during his time as an assistant with the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors and he is making the most of his second chance.
With largely the same roster that the Cavs had last season, Atkinson has elevated the play of the Ohio-based outfit and they are a league-leading 10-0 on the year after Friday night's 136-117 demolition of the Golden State Warriors.
The Cavs are the first team in NBA history to win their first 10 games of the season while scoring 110 or more points in each game and they are showing no signs of slowing down.
They blew away the Warriors, who had come in at 7-1 and 5-0 on the road, racking up a 41-point half-time lead and their 83 points tied the franchise record for points in a half.
Both teams are playing in a back-to-back situation, but that also favors the Cavs, who have not had to travel, and on top of that the Nets' game against the Celtics went to overtime, so the home team should be fresher.
No Cavs player was on the court for more than 30 minutes against the Warriors and their big lead meant they were able to use their depth, with 13 players entering the game.
In contrast, the Nets used only nine players in the close contest against the Celtics, with all five of their starters playing at least 28 minutes while Dennis Schroder, Cameron Thomas and Cameron Johnson were all on the court for at least 37 minutes.
Only two of the Nets' five losses this season have come by 14 or more points, but this looks a game in which they could find it hard to keep up with the rampant home team.
The Nets have covered the spread in seven of their first nine games, but the Cavs have not been letting their backers down either, covering in nine of their 10 outings.
Brooklyn won the teams' most recent meeting, 120-101 in Cleveland last season, but the Cavs had won their previous five clashes and look good for another comfortable victory.
Eight of the Cavaliers' 10 games have produced at least 227 points and another high-scoring matchup looks likely on Saturday night.
The teams have scored an average of 236.9 points per game between them this season, while allowing a combined average of 224.3 and, even allowing for potential tiredness with both teams in a back-to-back situation, they can be expected to keep the score moving as fatigue applies on defense too.
Both teams have been hitting their long-range shots, with the Cavs ranking fourth for three-pointers made and the Nets a respectable 11th, while neither team excels in defensive rebounds.
Cleveland rank 22nd and Brooklyn 29th, so there could be plenty of second-chance points available too.
Center Jarrett Allen has led the Cavaliers in rebounds in seven of their 10 games, including each of the last four.
The 26-year-old is a former first-round pick of the Nets so, like his head coach, will be motivated to perform well against his former team.
Allen has posted four straight double-doubles and has secured at least 10 rebounds in his last seven games.
He has tallies of 12, 15, 14 and 12 in the last four and looks a good bet to grab at least 12 rebounds again.
