The Boston Celtics have already sealed their spot in the playoffs but have shown no signs of slowing down, routing the Sacramento Kings 113-95 on Monday to make it six wins in six games.
The reigning champions are building up a head of steam before the playoffs get under way - perfect for retaining the title - but they face another red-hot side next, the Phoenix Suns.
Phoenix has won its last four games to put itself back in the mix for a Play-In Tournament spot. With the talent they have at their disposal, the Suns could give the Celtics a tricky test in Arizona on Wednesday.
While the Celtics are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the NBA, a +4.5 line for the Suns, especially at home, looks generous.
Phoenix has covered that line in six straight games at the Footprint Center and in its last five contests in general. The Suns' last two outings have seen them get the better of top-quality opposition.
Mike Budenholzer’s team followed up a stunning 123-112 win over the Eastern Conference-leading Cleveland Cavaliers with a 108-106 victory against their coach’s former employer, the Milwaukee Bucks.
After a turbulent start to the season, the Suns have won six of their last 10 matches and Kevin Durant and Devin Booker seem to finally be getting the best out of each other, with KD putting up 26.7 points per game on 53/56/87 shooting splits in his past 10 outings and Booker providing 8.2 assists per match in the same time.
The Celtics may struggle to match that level of firepower, especially if star man Jayson Tatum, who is listed as questionable for this clash, is unavailable or hampered by his ankle injury. The Suns can be expected to at least cover a +4.5 line.
As previously mentioned, Booker’s creative numbers have soared in recent weeks and while his 8.2 assists-per-game average across his last 10 appearances is impressive in its own right, he has improved that aspect of his game even further lately.
Booker has averaged 9.2 assists across his last five games, impressing most against the Cavaliers and Bucks - sides who both rank in the top 10 for defensive rating in the NBA this term - when notching 10 and 12 respectively.
Booker notched seven assists in his last appearance against the Celtics and, given his current form, he can be expected to at least match that number again on Wednesday.
It is not only Booker and Durant who have shone for the Suns of late. Rookie Ryan Dunn has also improved massively during their upturn in form.
The young forward has averaged 9.8 points per game in his last 10 appearances - 3.3 points higher than his season average - and he could keep up his strong play on Wednesday.
His line is set at 9.5 for points and, having hit double figures for six straight games, he can be expected to hit that figure again in his first ever appearance against the Boston Celtics.
