Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Boston Celtics and New York Knicks will be squaring off for the fourth and final time during the regular season when they meet again at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

Boston is a borderline lock for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference and New York is unlikely to move from its current No. 3 position, so this is a potential conference semifinals preview.

Both teams are on two-game winning streaks, while the Celtics are especially hot as winners in 11 of their last 12 outings.

Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks betting picks and predictions

New York Knicks ML (-125)

As of Tuesday morning, every player in Boston's starting lineup had an injury designation. The good news for the visitors is that Jrue Holiday and Derrick White are probable, but the other three are in jeopardy of missing this contest. Jayson Tatum is questionable with an ankle problem, Jaylen Brown missed the last game due to a knee issue and Kristaps Porzingis is dealing with an illness.

Keep in mind that the Celtics are playing the first leg of a back-to-back situation, as they will face Orlando on Wednesday. Needless to say, it's unlikely that anyone who is less than 100 percent will suit up for both games, especially since Boston is four games back of Cleveland for the top spot in the East and eight games clear of New York. It's not like any regular-season result matters too much the rest of the way.

The Knicks are three games ahead of Indiana for the third seed with four remaining, so they at least want to secure one more victory to put that on ice. They have been doing plenty of winning in recent weeks, albeit not quite as much as the Celtics. New York has won five of its last six and it is coming off back-to-back defeats of Atlanta (by 16 points) and Phoenix (by 14).

Jalen Brunson is the only starter on the injury report, but he is finally back after missing a month with an ankle injury.

Playing at home and in better shape in terms of the infirmary, New York should have a good chance to win this one outright.

Under 221.5 (-110)

There is too much uncertainty involving Boston's best offensive players to feel comfortable projecting a high-scoring game.

Although New York is at full strength, Brunson has played just once since returning from a month off and was held to only 15 points on 3-for-9 shooting against Phoenix this past Sunday.

Defensively, the Celtics and Knicks are No. 2 and No. 4 in the Eastern Conference in opponents' points per game, respectively. Boston has kept three of its last four foes to no more than 103 points.

New York has limited five of its last six opponents to 107 points or fewer, including three below the 100-point mark.

OG Anunoby Over 17.5 points (-110)

OG Anunoby is on an absolute heater right now. The power forward has exceeded his season average of 18.1 ppg in 10 consecutive contests.

In fact, he has not scored fewer than 23 points on any occasions during this stretch. Through four April outings, Anunoby is shooting 56.7 percent from the floor and 51.7 percent from three-point range.

The 27-year-old did not do much in his first two appearances against Boston, but those were in October and February – before his current hot streak began.

With Porzingis possibly absent, the Celtics' low-post defense could be undermanned.

That would give Anunoby every opportunity to continue his scoring barrage.
