Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Reigning NBA champions the Boston Celtics take on this season's top team on Tuesday night as they face the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

The Cavaliers (40-9) have won four in a row while the Celtics (35-15) are looking for a fourth straight success and after the elite teams split their first two meetings this season, another close contest is expected.

Boston Celtics vs. Cleveland Cavaliers betting picks and predictions

Winning Margin 3-way - Any other result (+190)

The first two encounters between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics this season have both produced close finishes and another tight contest is likely in Ohio on Tuesday night.

The Winning Margin 3-way market enables bettors to choose either team to win by six or more points individually, or neither side to win by as much as that, and backing the game to be decided either way by five or fewer points is attractive.

In the teams' first meeting, the Celtics put an end to the Cavaliers' perfect start under head coach Kenny Atkinson when they won 120-117 at TD Garden to hand the Cavs their first loss after they opened with 15 wins.

The Cavaliers struck back in the meeting at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in December, winning the fourth quarter 43-27 to come out on top by 115-111.

Both of those contests would have cashed this bet and while the Cavaliers look the right favorites at home, they will likely have to fight for it against a healthy Celtics squad.

The NBA champions have not looked as dominant as they were last season, but they can still boast the second-best record in the Eastern Conference and have a two-game lead over the New York Knicks in the Atlantic division.

Joe Mazzulla's team had an inconsistent spell after making a 16-3 start to the year and they have lost three of their last nine games. They had to fight hard to beat the Pelicans on the road on Friday and needed another rally to come from 26 behind to beat the 76ers by eight on Sunday, but they have shown plenty of fight and are unlikely to roll over in Cleveland.

The Cavs have enjoyed wide-margin successes over the Pistons, Heat, Hawks and Mavericks in their last four games but this is a tougher test and the game could go down to the final buzzer.

Donovan Mitchell 30+ points (+190)

Donovan Mitchell has played a leading role in both of the clashes between the Cavs and Celtics this season, with Cleveland's star man posting 35 points in each game.

Spida scored 20 of his points in the fourth quarter as the Cavaliers rallied to end Boston's seven-game unbeaten run in December and was fighting to the end of their first meeting too, scoring a three-pointer and two free throws in the final 30 seconds.

Cleveland's success this year has seen Mitchell's average court time fall to 31.1 minutes per game, having played for more than 35 in his first two seasons in Ohio, but he clocked 40 minutes in Boston and 35 in the most recent meeting between these two teams and should receive extensive playing time again in a matchup of this magnitude.

Another 30-point game from the former Jazz star would be no surprise as he has scored 37 against the 76ers, 33 against the Rockets and 34 against the Heat within his last six appearances.

Kristaps Porzingis over 2.5 threes made (+130)

Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis drained three or more three-pointers for the ninth time in his last 11 games in Sunday's comeback win over the 76ers and he is worth siding with to continue his efficient long-distance shooting.

The Latvian knocked down an impressive eight treys against the Bulls last Wednesday from 14 attempts and cashed this bet for the fourth time in his last five games against the Sixers.

Porzingis made three of his seven three-point shots in the Celtics' most recent visit to Cleveland in December and can keep the good times rolling.
