The NBA’s regular season has reached its climax, with all 30 teams in action on Sunday, and there is still plenty to play for with just one game remaining, especially in the West.
The Eastern Conference is settled, with no teams capable of rising or falling in the standings, but the West still has plenty of intrigue as there are ties for fourth and sixth, meaning Sunday’s games could be full of drama.
The standout fixture sees the Golden State Warriors host the Los Angeles Clippers. GSW need to win to keep hold of their spot in the playoffs but they will have to be at their best to beat the Clippers, who will be keen to triumph as a victory could land them home-court advantage in the first round.
There are 15 games to enjoy on Sunday and we have picked out our three best bets in the games which matter most.
By far the biggest game on Sunday sees two California rivals face off in San Francisco and there could be a shock on the cards.
Golden State go into the game as strong favorites on the Money Line, which is understandable given the improvement they have shown since their acquisition of Jimmy Butler. The Warriors are 23-6 with Butler in the side and they must now be considered genuine title contenders.
However, they may have to do things the hard way if they are to secure a first championship since 2022. A win would secure their spot in the playoffs but a loss could see them drop into the play-in tournament should the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Utah Jazz.
The Warriors are for sure a talented side but a -4.5 line, even with home advantage, looks a little too big to consider backing them against the Clippers, who are one of the NBA’s most in-form teams.
With all their star men back from injury, LA are looking like a class act and have won nine of their last 10 games, including each of the last seven. The Clippers are also 3-0 up in the regular-season series against the Warriors and they can cover a +4.5 spread in San Francisco.
Another game with playoff permutations, albeit not as seismic as the all-Californian clash, is the Tennessee tussle between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Dallas Mavericks.
Both sides will take part in the play-in tournament regardless of Sunday’s result but a win for either side would give them a chance of securing home-court advantage in the first round, meaning both could go on the front foot at the FedEx Forum.
Ja Morant, and his new grenade-throwing celebration, has led some explosive performances by the Grizzlies in recent weeks and their average of 121.6 points-per-game means they have the second-best offense in the NBA.
The Mavericks, led by Anthony Davis, have dealt relatively well with the monumental, shock departure of Luka Doncic and they can play their part in a Tennessee thriller.
The over has landed in 56 percent of these sides’ combined 162 games and looks likely to hit again.
The Detroit Pistons head to Fiserv Forum to face the Milwaukee Bucks and this could turn out to be a fruitless trip for the visitors, who lost to the same opponent 125-119 at Little Caesars Arena last time out.
It is now three defeats in the last four matches for the Pistons, a possible expected drop in form given they have already clinched a playoff spot, and another loss could be on the cards.
Milwaukee have put together a seven-game winning streak and they will feel confident of extending that run to eight matches at Fiserv Forum, where they boast a healthy 26-14 record.
