Atlanta Hawks vs. Chicago Bulls: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Atlanta Hawks travel to Chicago on Thursday evening to take on the Bulls in an Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament game.

The Hawks are the No. 10 seed after finishing 36-46, while the Bulls are the No. 9 seed after going 39-43. The winner of this game will face the loser of tonight’s 7-8 seed game between the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers on Friday evening.

Read below to see our experts’ picks and predictions for this game.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Chicago Bulls betting picks and predictions

Chicago Bulls -3 (-110)

Neither the Bulls nor the Hawks are coming into tonight’s contest on fire. Chicago dropped 8-of-13 to close the season, including 4-of-6 at home. Atlanta lost its last six games, including four on the road.

The Hawks’ last win was a 113-101 victory over the Bulls more than two weeks ago. Chicago took the other two games in the season series.

Atlanta is 1-6 against the spread in its last seven games, and 3-8 ATS in its last 11 against the Bulls. The numbers are even less promising throughout the season as the Hawks are 29-53 ATS overall and 14-27 ATS away.

The Bulls are 4-2 ATS in their last six games, 41-40-1 ATS for the season and 18-22-1 ATS at home. The difference here should be the slight home court advantage for the Bulls. Look for Chicago to do just enough to cover the spread and advance.

DeMar DeRozan Over 29.5 Points (-115)

The Bulls may not have closed the season strong, but DeMar DeRozan, the team’s leading scorer, did not have that problem. He averaged 30.7 points in the final six contests, scoring 30 or more points in five of those six games.

That includes 31 in that April 1st loss to Atlanta. In fact, DeRozan led the Bulls in scoring in each of their three games with the Hawks this season. The team will need another big game from him to move on.

We’re looking for DeRozan to stay hot in the scoring column and go for Over 29.5 points.

Nikola Vucevic Over 20.5 Points (-110) and Under 11.5 rebounds (+100)

DeRozan isn’t the only one who has been getting the job done scoring-wise for the Bulls lately. Vucevic closed the regular season on a brief tear, averaging more than 27 points in the team’s final three games.

That includes a 29-point, 11-rebound performance in Chicago’s 120-119 overtime loss to the New York Knicks in their regular season finale. Look for him to score Over 20.5 points tonight against Atlanta.

Conversely, Vucevic is averaging just over 10 rebounds a game over the last 10 contests. Strong numbers to be sure, but still below the 11.5 target he has for tonight’s matchup. Look for Vucevic to be in that 9-11 rebound range again, but come just Under that 11.5-rebound target.

Bogdan Bogdanovic Over 16.5 points (-145)

Yes, Trae Young (25.7 ppg) and Dejounte Murray (22.5 ppg) are the Hawks’ leading scorers, but it is Bogdanovic that has gotten the job done against the Bulls all season. He led Atlanta in scoring in each of its three games with Chicago, averaging more than 23 points a contest, including 20 in that April 1st victory.

That’s not all. Although Bogdonavic is averaging just under 17 points per game for the season, he has upped his production recently, averaging 19.2 points a game over Atlanta’s final 10 contests.

He surpassed tonight’s target of 16.5 points in eight of those games, including 38 against Milwaukee and 24 in a win over Eastern Conference-leading Boston.

Look for Bogdonavic to continue his recent scoring pace and add another strong performance against the Bulls by going over 16.5 points tonight.
