Read the latest betting picks and predictions for tonight's matchup between the Nashville Predators (7-12-6) and Toronto Maple Leafs (15-7-2), courtesy of our friends at Daily Faceoff.
Nashville heads to Toronto after a three-day break, looking to snap a four-game losing streak.
This isn’t unfamiliar territory for the Predators, marking their second losing streak of four or more games this season and their fourth stretch of at least three consecutive losses. Their worst skid came at the season's start when they opened 0-5.
Toronto, meanwhile, is red hot. The Maple Leafs have won nine of their last 11 games, despite star Auston Matthews missing all but two of them.
However, Toronto hasn’t needed a 60-goal scorer while playing stellar defense. Over the last month, no team has allowed fewer goals. Since Nov. 5, the Leafs rank first in goals against per 60 minutes (2.00) and seventh in expected goals against per 60. They also rank just outside the top 10 in goal scoring during this span, making them look like the total package.
Nashville, by contrast, has struggled in almost every area.
The Predators are the worst offensive team in hockey, scoring just 2.26 goals per 60 minutes year-to-date, and they sit just outside the bottom 10 in goals against per 60. This is despite starting goaltender Juuse Saros, who ranks ninth in goals saved above expected, providing solid performances. Unfortunately, Saros gets no offensive support. Nashville has scored two or fewer goals in 13 of their last 17 games, including three shutout losses.
